In a March 30 press release, the Responsible Gaming Coalition announced that gaming operators Hard Rock Digital, PointsBet and Fanatics joined their ranks.
In September, the Responsible Gaming Coalition established responsible gaming criteria for companies operating within the gambling industry. Currently, the coalition comprises nine prominent gambling operators in the United StatesΒ β BetMGM, Bally’s, DraftKings, FanDuel, MGM Resorts International, Fanatics, Entertain, Hard Rock Digital and PointsBet.
Each operator in the coalition has vowed to follow 12 agreed-upon principles of responsible gaming. These principles pertain to safety measures like informing customers of gambling risks, ensuring socially-responsible advertising, providing self-exclusion tools and many others.
“Responsible gambling is a core priority for our business and requires meaningful collaboration with all stakeholders, inclusive of operators competing within the same markets, to promote this aspect of our industry and ensure safe practices are followed,” PointsBet U.S. senior vice president of legal and compliance Rachel Kasper said.
An external team regularly reviews operators in the coalition to ensure they comply with the organization’s 12 principles. Per the coalition’s press release, all members have given detailed reports proving their alignment with the principles.
The members have also joined various projects to support the Coalition’s safe and responsible gambling goal. For example, they launched new gaming tools and sites to help combat addiction, committed to the gaming helpline, and sought accreditation from the Responsible Gaming Council.
“We have the research, the data, the partnersβall the tools to establish an effective nationwide code of responsible gaming principles. And we hope our industry and state regulators will join us in advancing these principles,” Entertain’s senior vice president for regulatory affairs Martin Lycka said.
The coalition has collaborated with various organizations and officials in the government to promote responsible gambling practices. It is worth mentioning that coalition members have made contributions and have taken up positions as Advisory Board members for the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), providing financial assistance for the NCPG’s different grant initiatives.
