At the midway point of the 2023 World Series of Poker, the $25k Fantasy Draft standings have become a focal point. Teams that placed their bets on skilled no-limit hold’em players gain an advantageous position as the series progresses.
In late May, the draft took place for the $25,000 buy-in fantasy sports-style draft. In the draft, each of the 20 teams was allotted $200 to spend on bids and had to select eight poker players.
The highest bids were placed on the familiar names of Daniel Negreanu and Shaun Deeb. As the 2023 WSOP unfolded, Deeb showcased a strong start. He managed to secure his sixth bracelet.
Meanwhile, Negreanu β also known as DNegs β has yet to reach a final table. He even has had an overall loss of over $700,000.
The standings are determined by the players’ performances during the WSOP. The winning team will earn a grand prize of $250,000.
Team Fort Lauderdale is benefitting from the impressive performance of Chad Eveslage. Eveslege is the sole multiple bracelet winner in non-hold ’em events this summer.
Eveslage has contributed 167 points to his team. He is ranked eighth in the overall rankings. Despite his contributions, his points alone cannot salvage the team’s standing.
Ren Lin’s Team Lada Gaga leads the standing with 743 points. Sean Winter has been the team’s standout performer. Winter has accumulated the most points (159) through two final table finishes in NLH events. Biao Ding (154) and Lin himself (151) have also contributed to the team’s success.
Following closely behind Lada Gaga with 734 points is Team DPMC. Owned by Donnie Peters, the team deviates from a strict focus on NLH. Deeb (223 points) has been their top performer, despite having only three NLH cashes. Sam Soverel (110 points) and Stephen Song (106 points) have also made valuable contributions.
Still catching up in third place is Team Fleyshman with 649 points. This team heavily relies on skilled no-limit hold’em players, particularly Chance Kornuth. He leads the league with 261 points.
Defending champion Maria Ho’s team, known as Team Maria’s Homies, currently sits in fifth place with 542 points. It is still within striking distance of the top.
