Swiatek is known for being a specialist on clay courts. Many wondered if Swiatek had fallen behind in her game or if she was facing mental challenges. She lost her 37-match winning streak at Wimbledon. After Wimbledon, she lost more matches, and people wondered if her season was done before the Open. Will, she proved that there was nothing wrong as she is now once again playing at the top of her game.
Ons Jabeur quickly defeated Caroline Garcia on a 13-match winning streak. Her record in the semifinals was improved to 6-0 with the dominant 6-1,6-3 win. This should give her confidence going into this match. Swiatek’s semifinals experience may benefit as she won four consecutive games and 16 of the last 20 points despite a deficit of 2-4 in the third set. Swiatek’s disadvantage was that she wasn’t challenged at this stage, but she has now defeated back-to-back ranked players.
