10) Billie Jean King

Long Beach native Billie Jean King has been a prominent voice worldwide for gender equality in women’s sports. Billie Jean King was an outstanding tennis player throughout her athletic career. Six times she won Wimbledon in 1966, 1967 and 1968. She defeated Chris Evert, an American, 6-0 and 7-5 in 1973. In 1975, she beat Evonne Goolagong, an Australian, 6-0 and 6-1. 9) Novak Djokovic

Djokovic won six Wimbledon titles in 2011, 2015, 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2021. The current World Number One is the favorite to win his seventh Wimbledon title. Djokovic’s most memorable win was in 2019 when he defeated Roger Federer, Switzerland.

8) Dorthoea Lamp Chambers

a British tennis legend from Ealing won seven Wimbledon titles during the first 20 years of the 20th Century. She won in 1903 and 1904, 1906, and 1910. 1911. 1913. 1914. Lambert Chambers won the 1911 Wimbledon final, making her the first-ever player to win grand final singles without losing a set.

7) William Renshaw

Leamington Spa native, England, was one of the greatest tennis players of the 19th Century. In the Amateur Era, he won seven Wimbledon titles in 1881-1882, 1883 and 1884, and 1885,1886, 1886, 1889, and 1889. Long before the Williams sisters, the Renshaw twins dominated women’s tennis. Ernest beat William in the 1882 and 1883 Wimbledon finals. Herbert Lawford was also defeated thrice.

6) Steffi Graf

She was born in Mannheim, West Germany, and married American star, Andre Agassi. She won seven Wimbledon titles. Her first Wimbledon title may have been the most memorable. Graf defeated Martina Navratilova from the United States in the final, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. This Wimbledon title is unique because it was Graf’s first golden slam year. She won all four majors and the gold medal at Seoul’s 1988 Olympic Games.

5) Serena Williams

She is a 23-time major champion and has won seven Wimbledon titles. Serena Williams, a U.S. tennis player, had a fierce rivalry with Venus Williams, her sister. She was defeated three times in the Wimbledon finals over the years, in 2002, 2003 and 2009. Williams is the eighth-most likely to win Wimbledon in 2022 with a +2500 record.

4) Pete Sampras

Pete Sampras, a U.S. men’s singles tennis champion, won one grand slam during the 1990s. He won seven Wimbledon titles. Two of Sampras’ seven Wimbledon titles were won over Goran Ivanisevic from Croatia. Check out the best bookmakers for betting on Wimbledon.

3) Helen Willis Moody

Eight times Wimbledon champion, the native of Centerville in California. She won in 1927, 1928 and, 1929, 1930, 1932. 1933, 1935, 1938.. Willis Moody won the U.S. Open seven times during this period. Four of Willis Moody’s eight Wimbledon titles were won in the final against Helen Jacobs.

2) Roger Federer

Rafael Nadal, a Spanish tennis player, is well-known as the King of Clay. Roger Federer, the champion of the people, should be considered King of Grass. He won eight Wimbledon titles, including 2005, 2006 and 2007 Wimbledon titles. The final saw Federer defeat American Andy Roddick. He beat Roddick in the finals in 2005, 2006 and 2009. Federer’s triumph over Roddick in 2004 and 2005 was his most dramatic grand slam win. He beat Roddick 5-7, 7-6, 7-6 7, 3-6, 16-14.

1) Martina Navratilova

The 18-time major champion won half her grand slam titles at Wimbledon. Over three decades, the Czechoslovakian native, who would represent the United States later, won nine Wimbledon titles, including 1978, 1979 and, 1982, 1983. Navratilova won seven Wimbledon women’s doubles titles and four Wimbledon mixed doubles titles. Five of Navratilova’s nine Wimbledon singles titles were won over American Chris Evert.
