The 2026 Cincinnati Open women’s doubles tournament brings together the world’s top-ranked partnership, defending champions with new teammates, established Grand Slam winners and one of the most celebrated teams in tennis history.
Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend headline the 32-team field at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The doubles competition is expected to begin Monday, August 17, with the women’s championship match scheduled for Saturday, August 22.
The field also includes 2025 Cincinnati champions Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe, although both will compete with different partners. Su-Wei Hsieh and Jelena Ostapenko, Elise Mertens and Diana Shnaider, Sara Errani and Leylah Fernandez, and wild-card entrants Serena and Venus Williams add tremendous depth and intrigue.

The Cincinnati Open features a 32-team women’s doubles draw as part of a WTA 1000 tournament with a total financial commitment of $7,433,076. The doubles champions will earn 1,000 ranking points.
The tournament is played as a single-elimination competition. Doubles matches generally use no-ad scoring, creating greater pressure when games reach deuce. A limited number of points can decide a match, making serving, returning and communication especially important.
Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend enter Cincinnati as the clear championship favorites.
Siniakova is ranked No. 1 in the WTA doubles rankings, while Townsend is No. 2. They have established themselves as the most successful partnership of the 2026 season by winning Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid and Roland Garros together.
Their success is built around complementary styles.
Townsend’s left-handed serve creates difficult return angles and opens the court for her first volley. Siniakova is one of the best returners and defensive players in doubles, consistently turning opponents’ attacking shots into neutral or offensive opportunities.
Their movement at the net is another major advantage. Both players are comfortable switching formations, intercepting returns and applying pressure before opponents can establish control of a rally.
Townsend also has previous Cincinnati championship experience. She won the women’s doubles title in 2023 alongside Alycia Parks and now returns as part of the world’s highest-ranked partnership.
Siniakova and Townsend will enter with the shortest projected odds, but their price may leave limited value. The official draw should be reviewed before deciding whether to back them in the futures market.
Gabriela Dabrowski will defend her 2025 Cincinnati title alongside Luisa Stefani rather than Erin Routliffe.
Dabrowski and Stefani enter as the third- and fourth-ranked doubles players in the world. They have won three titles during the 2026 season and finished runner-up at Wimbledon after carrying an 18-set winning streak into the championship match.
Their partnership combines serving power, outstanding net coverage and extensive experience in pressure situations.
Dabrowski is one of the most accomplished doubles players of her generation. Her serve placement and ability to anticipate returns allow her to control points without relying entirely on power.
Stefani supplies athleticism and quick hands around the net. She is especially effective when moving forward behind a strong return and can finish points from difficult positions.
The biggest concern is their possible placement in the draw. A semifinal matchup with Siniakova and Townsend would significantly reduce the value of backing Dabrowski and Stefani to win the tournament.
If they are placed in the opposite half, however, they may become the best alternative to the favorites.
Erin Routliffe has an opportunity to accomplish something extremely difficult: win three consecutive Cincinnati Open championships with three different partners.
Routliffe won the 2024 title alongside Asia Muhammad before capturing the 2025 championship with Dabrowski. She will compete with Aldila Sutjiadi in 2026.
Routliffe’s serve, wingspan and net presence make her particularly effective on hard courts. She can cover a large portion of the net and force opponents to attempt lower-percentage passing shots.
Sutjiadi brings quickness, returning ability and doubles experience. The challenge will be developing enough communication and understanding to compete against partnerships that have played together throughout the season.
Their projected price should be considerably longer than those of Siniakova and Townsend or Dabrowski and Stefani. Routliffe’s tournament history makes the new partnership worthy of consideration in advancement markets.
Su-Wei Hsieh and Jelena Ostapenko form one of the most unpredictable and entertaining teams in the tournament.
Hsieh won the Cincinnati Open doubles championship in 2013 and remains one of the sport’s most creative players. Her anticipation, touch, changing speeds and unusual shot selection can disrupt teams that prefer predictable power-based rallies.
Ostapenko won the Cincinnati doubles title in 2022. She supplies the partnership with aggressive returning and the ability to hit winners from either side of the court.
The pair won the Brisbane championship earlier this season. Hsieh entered August with an 18-6 doubles record for the year, while Ostapenko had recorded 18 victories.
Their aggressive approach can also create inconsistency. Ostapenko takes significant risks on returns, while Hsieh’s unconventional style sometimes requires time to establish rhythm.
If both players are performing well, they possess the experience and shot-making necessary to defeat any team in the field.
Elise Mertens and Diana Shnaider combine elite doubles experience with explosive baseline power.
Mertens won the 2026 Australian Open doubles championship alongside Zhang Shuai. She has consistently ranked among the world’s best doubles players and understands how to position herself at the net against both power and finesse teams.
Shnaider is better known for her singles success, but her left-handed game translates well to doubles. Her serve can pull opponents outside the court, while her forehand gives the team a weapon from the baseline.
Their greatest question will be partnership chemistry. Mertens and Shnaider do not have the same extensive history together as the leading seeded teams.
Their individual talent may be enough to overcome that disadvantage during the early rounds. If the partnership develops quickly, they could become one of the tournament’s most dangerous semifinal or championship threats.
Leylah Fernandez will compete alongside Olympic gold medalist Sara Errani.
Fernandez brings left-handed serving, aggressive returning and excellent court coverage. Errani remains one of the smartest doubles players on the WTA Tour and has built her career around positioning, anticipation and net play.
Errani’s serve can be attacked, but she compensates by reading returns and beginning points with a clear tactical plan. Fernandez’s power should help protect the partnership during service games.
The pairing may be especially effective against teams that depend on rhythm. Fernandez can accelerate the ball from the baseline, while Errani can change the pace and force opponents to hit uncomfortable volleys.
They are unlikely to open among the leading favorites, but their contrasting styles could make them an appealing longshot.
Demi Schuurs and Ellen Perez enter Cincinnati as another established partnership capable of reaching the closing rounds.
Schuurs won the Cincinnati championship in 2020 and has remained one of the tour’s most dependable net players. Perez’s left-handed serve and forehand create the type of angles that can be extremely effective on an outdoor hard court.
Both players understand doubles positioning and will rarely defeat themselves through poor communication.
They may lack the overwhelming baseline power of some competing teams, but their experience provides a relatively high floor. They should be considered a strong quarterfinal candidate and a possible semifinal team with a favorable draw.
Zhang Shuai will partner Jiang Xinyu in Cincinnati.
Zhang won the tournament in 2021 and captured the 2026 Australian Open championship alongside Mertens. Her return game, experience and ability to handle fast exchanges make her a dangerous opponent regardless of partner.
Jiang provides mobility and a solid baseline game. The partnership may not receive as much attention as the top-ranked teams, but Zhang’s championship experience gives it legitimate upset potential.
Their performance could depend on the draw. They would be dangerous against another recently formed team but may struggle against Siniakova and Townsend’s superior movement and communication.
Serena and Venus Williams have received a wild card and will compete together at the Cincinnati Open for the first time.
The sisters have won 14 Grand Slam women’s doubles championships and three Olympic doubles gold medals together. Their most recent competitive doubles appearance came at the 2022 US Open.
Their return will be one of the biggest stories of the tournament.
Serena remains one of the greatest servers and returners in tennis history, while Venus brings reach, experience and aggressive net play. Their championship history and understanding of each other cannot be duplicated by a newly created partnership.
The questions involve current form and match fitness. Neither sister has played a significant doubles schedule in recent seasons, and their opening opponent could be a team that competes together throughout the year.
Their name recognition may also shorten their betting price below its true value. Bettors should avoid backing the Williams sisters strictly because of their past accomplishments.
A first-round victory is realistic with a favorable matchup, but winning five consecutive matches against the world’s leading active teams would be an enormous challenge.
The 2025 champions will both return, but they will be positioned on opposite sides of the net if they meet.
Dabrowski partners Stefani, while Routliffe teams with Sutjiadi. The split creates a compelling tournament storyline because both defending champions have legitimate opportunities to make deep runs.
Dabrowski and Stefani enter with the stronger current form and ranking. Routliffe and Sutjiadi may offer the better betting price because they are a newer partnership.
A potential meeting between the two teams would test familiarity against current chemistry. Dabrowski and Routliffe know each other’s serving patterns, return tendencies and preferred formations from their championship run together.
The complete daily order of play and court assignments will be announced after the draw is released. The planned progression of the women’s doubles tournament is expected to be:
Date Scheduled Round
Monday, August 17 First Round Begins
Tuesday, August 18 First Round Concludes and Second Round Begins
Wednesday, August 19 Second Round
Thursday, August 20 Quarterfinals
Friday, August 21 Semifinals
Saturday, August 22 Women’s Doubles Final
The tournament has confirmed that the women’s doubles championship will be played Saturday, August 22. Tennis Channel’s preliminary broadcast schedule lists doubles beginning August 17, followed by the second round, quarterfinals, semifinals and final throughout the week.
Weather, singles commitments and match length could affect the order of play. Several doubles entrants are also competing in singles, which may require tournament officials to adjust starting times.
The official women’s doubles draw was not available as of August 6.
The WTA states that final tournament draws are generally confirmed three days before play begins. The bracket will determine seeding, first-round matchups and the projected paths for Siniakova and Townsend, Dabrowski and Stefani, Routliffe and Sutjiadi, and the Williams sisters.
The draw will be especially important for recently formed partnerships. A matchup against another new team could provide time to establish chemistry, while an opening match against an established partnership could lead to an early elimination.
Tennis Channel is the exclusive United States television home of the Cincinnati Open.
Coverage will be available on Tennis Channel, Tennis Channel 2 and the Tennis Channel App. The streaming service is scheduled to carry every match live and on demand, which will be important because many doubles matches will be played on courts outside the primary television window.
Women’s doubles coverage begins with the first round on August 17 and continues through the championship match on August 22.
Sportsbooks had not widely released tournament futures or first-round match odds as of August 6. Betting markets are expected to become available after the official doubles draw is completed.
The following are projected tournament odds, not confirmed live sportsbook prices. They are based on current rankings, partnership continuity, recent results, hard-court performance and previous Cincinnati success.
Team Projected Odds
Katerina Siniakova/Taylor Townsend+225
Gabriela Dabrowski/Luisa Stefani+500
Su-Wei Hsieh/Jelena Ostapenko+700
Erin Routliffe/Aldila Sutjiadi+900
Elise Mertens/Diana Shnaider+1000
Demi Schuurs/Ellen Perez+1200
Leylah Fernandez/Sara Errani+1400
Jiang Xinyu/Zhang Shuai+1600
Asia Muhammad/Fanny Stollar+1800
Serena Williams/Venus Williams+2500
Cristina Bucsa/Nicole Melichar-Martinez+2800
Siniakova and Townsend deserve to be substantial favorites following their dominant WTA 1000 and Grand Slam results.
Dabrowski and Stefani form the clear second choice because of their rankings, three 2026 titles and Wimbledon runner-up finish.
Hsieh and Ostapenko offer the best combination of experience and projected plus-money value. Mertens and Shnaider possess tremendous individual talent, but their limited partnership history makes them more difficult to price.
The Williams sisters are likely to attract public support. Their actual price could be shorter than the projected +2500 because of their championship history and popularity.
Predicted Champions: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend
Siniakova and Townsend are the most complete partnership in the field.
Their results demonstrate that they can win on different surfaces and against different styles. Townsend’s serve and athleticism combine perfectly with Siniakova’s returning, movement and tactical understanding.
Dabrowski and Stefani are the most likely team to challenge them in the final. They possess the serving, net play and experience needed to remain competitive against the favorites.
Hsieh and Ostapenko are the strongest dark-horse selection because their contrasting skills can disrupt almost any opponent. Routliffe and Sutjiadi provide additional value because of Routliffe’s exceptional Cincinnati history.
Projected Final: Siniakova/Townsend over Dabrowski/Stefani
Best Longshot: Hsieh/Ostapenko
Best New Partnership: Mertens/Shnaider
Best Former-Champion Story: Routliffe/Sutjiadi
Most Intriguing Wild Card: Serena Williams/Venus Williams
Projected Odds: +225
Siniakova and Townsend have separated themselves from the rest of the women’s doubles field.
They have won four major tournaments together during the 2026 season, including three consecutive WTA 1000 championships at Indian Wells, Miami and Madrid before capturing Roland Garros.
Their partnership does not have an obvious weakness. Both can return, defend and finish points at the net. Townsend gives the team a powerful left-handed serve, while Siniakova’s ability to anticipate opponents makes her effective in deciding moments.
The wager is playable at +225 or better. A price shorter than +180 would create enough concern to consider an advancement prop or another team at longer odds.
Projected Odds: +200
Dabrowski and Stefani enter as the strongest alternative to the favorites.
They have won three titles during the season, reached the Wimbledon final and occupy the No. 3 and No. 4 positions in the WTA doubles rankings. Their current form provides more confidence than most teams in the field.
The biggest factor will be their position in the draw. This prop becomes significantly more attractive if they are placed in the opposite half from Siniakova and Townsend.
The recommendation is playable at +200 or better after the bracket is released.
Projected Odds: +175
Hsieh and Ostapenko bring enough experience and creativity to defeat almost any opponent.
Both are former Cincinnati champions, and they opened their 2026 season by winning the Brisbane doubles title. Hsieh can disrupt opponents with touch and placement, while Ostapenko supplies aggressive returning and baseline power.
Their inconsistency makes an outright championship wager risky. A semifinal prop provides a better balance between payout and required advancement.
The bet offers value at +175 or better, provided they avoid Siniakova and Townsend before the semifinals.
Projected Odds: -135
Routliffe enters Cincinnati attempting to win her third consecutive championship with a third different partner.
Her recent success at the tournament makes an early elimination less likely, even though she and Sutjiadi must establish chemistry as a new team. Routliffe’s serve and net coverage should allow the partnership to protect service games against most unseeded opponents.
A quarterfinal wager requires two victories without asking the new partnership to defeat every leading team in the field.
The prop is playable at -140 or better unless the draw places them against another championship contender in the opening round.
Projected Odds: +125
The Williams sisters possess more championship experience than any other team in the field.
Their 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals demonstrate their ability to perform together under the greatest pressure. Their familiarity with one another will also help compensate for their limited recent doubles schedule.
Current form remains a major concern. Their opening Cincinnati match will be their first competitive doubles appearance together since the 2022 US Open.
This wager should only be considered after the opponent is known. A matchup against another wild-card or newly formed team could create value at +125 or better. The bet should be avoided if they face one of the top four seeds.
Siniakova and Townsend are the preferred championship selection because of their ranking, partnership continuity and dominant 2026 results.
Dabrowski and Stefani provide the best finalist prop, particularly if they are placed in the opposite half of the draw from the favorites.
Hsieh and Ostapenko offer the most appealing semifinal value. Routliffe and Sutjiadi provide a safer advancement wager, while the Williams sisters become an intriguing first-round selection only with a favorable opponent.
Best Bet: Siniakova/Townsend to win the tournament
Best Prop Bet: Dabrowski/Stefani to reach the final
Best Semifinal Bet: Hsieh/Ostapenko to reach the semifinals
Safest Advancement Bet: Routliffe/Sutjiadi to reach the quarterfinals
Best First-Round Underdog: Serena Williams/Venus Williams
Best Longshot: Hsieh/Ostapenko to win the tournament
Predicted Final: Siniakova/Townsend defeat Dabrowski/Stefani
The 2026 Cincinnati Open WTA doubles tournament features a clear favorite but no shortage of legitimate challengers.
Siniakova and Townsend have established themselves as the world’s leading partnership and enter with four major 2026 championships. Their serving balance, returning and net movement make them the most difficult team to defeat.
Dabrowski and Stefani bring outstanding current form and a top-four combined ranking. Routliffe attempts to win Cincinnati for a third consecutive year, while Hsieh and Ostapenko offer the experience and creativity needed to produce an upset.
Mertens and Shnaider may possess the greatest individual talent among the newly created teams. Fernandez and Errani, Schuurs and Perez, and Jiang and Zhang provide additional depth.
The return of Serena and Venus Williams gives the tournament one of its most compelling storylines. Their historical achievements make them impossible to dismiss, although their lack of recent competition creates significant uncertainty.
The official draw will determine whether the leading teams are separated or forced into early championship-level matches. It will also reveal whether the Williams sisters receive a manageable opening opponent.
Siniakova and Townsend deserve to enter as the favorites, but Cincinnati’s shortened doubles schedule, pressure-filled scoring and deep field should create several upset opportunities before the women’s championship is decided on Saturday, August 22.
