FC Cincinnati returns to TQL Stadium Wednesday night for a critical Eastern Conference matchup against the New England Revolution.
The Orange and Blue enter at 9-9-9 with 36 points after earning a badly needed 3-1 road victory over Atlanta United. New England has 46 points from 14 wins, four draws and 10 losses, but enters after a disappointing 3-0 home defeat against the Seattle Sounders.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Apple TV. Current markets have Cincinnati as a slight home favorite, generally around even money, with New England near +225 and the draw around +280. The total is set at 3.5 goals.
This is also a revenge opportunity for Cincinnati.
New England embarrassed the Orange and Blue 6-1 at Gillette Stadium on March 15, scoring six unanswered goals after Gerardo Valenzuela gave Cincinnati an early lead.
Much has changed since then, but Cincinnati should need little motivation Wednesday night.
Cincinnati’s win over Atlanta could prove to be one of its most important performances of the season.
After a scoreless first half, Kévin Denkey scored in the 52nd minute, Atlanta equalized through Miguel Almirón, and Tom Barlow restored Cincinnati’s lead in the 84th minute.
Denkey then finished the game with another goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
The brace increased Denkey’s total to 16 MLS goals and 20 across all competitions, establishing a new career high. He is now approaching Cincinnati’s single-season MLS record of 18 goals.
Denkey’s form becomes particularly important because Cincinnati enters an exhausting portion of its schedule. The Atlanta match began a seven-game stretch over 22 days, and Wednesday opens a three-match TQL Stadium homestand featuring New England, Columbus and D.C. United.
The Orange and Blue have demonstrated plenty of attacking quality. New England’s own match preview notes that Cincinnati possesses the third-strongest attack in the Eastern Conference.
The problem has been defending.
Cincinnati has conceded 65 goals, the second-most in the East and third-most in MLS.
That makes Wednesday’s matchup dangerous against a New England team featuring Carles Gil and several capable attacking options.
New England enters following a 3-0 home loss to Seattle.
The score was somewhat misleading. The Revolution held more possession and outshot Seattle 12-9, but defensive mistakes and poor finishing allowed the Sounders to pull away.
Carles Gil remains the player Cincinnati must contain.
Gil has recorded 12 goals and nine assists while producing 79 key passes. His ability to operate between defensive lines, create opportunities and deliver dangerous set pieces makes him New England’s offensive centerpiece.
Peyton Miller has added seven goals, while Dor Turgeman has seven goals and seven assists. New England therefore possesses enough secondary scoring to punish Cincinnati if the Orange and Blue focus exclusively on Gil.
New England also knows it can hurt Cincinnati.
In March, five different Revolution players scored during the 6-1 victory. Brayan Ceballos recorded a brace, Turgeman scored, and Luca Langoni produced three first-half assists.
Cincinnati must prevent another game from becoming stretched and chaotic.
Cincinnati is roughly even money at home.
The Orange and Blue finally ended their six-match winless streak with an impressive road victory at Atlanta and now return to TQL Stadium with renewed confidence.
New England has the better overall record, but its 3-0 defeat to Seattle exposed vulnerabilities Cincinnati can attack.
Pick: FC Cincinnati Moneyline
Denkey is the hottest Cincinnati attacker.
His two goals against Atlanta pushed him to 16 in MLS play and 20 across all competitions.
Cincinnati should continue creating opportunities for him centrally, particularly with Barlow demonstrating his ability to occupy defenders and combine with Denkey.
Pick: Kévin Denkey Anytime Goalscorer
Cincinnati has one of the East’s most productive attacks but also one of MLS’s poorest defensive records.
That combination makes both teams scoring attractive.
New England has Gil, Turgeman and Miller, while Cincinnati counters with Denkey and a dangerous collection of attacking players.
Pick: Both Teams to Score — Yes
The primary market total is 3.5, but an alternate over 2.5 offers a more conservative approach.
The first meeting produced seven goals, and Cincinnati’s defensive record makes another wide-open game possible.
A 2-1 or 3-1 result appears realistic.
Pick: Over 2.5 Goals
Kévin Denkey, FC Cincinnati: Denkey enters with 16 league goals after scoring twice against Atlanta.
Tom Barlow, FC Cincinnati: Barlow scored the game-winner against Atlanta and assisted Denkey’s opening goal.
Pavel Bucha, FC Cincinnati: Bucha’s ability to control midfield and make late attacking runs will be important against New England’s creative midfield.
Carles Gil, New England: Gil has 12 goals, nine assists and 79 key passes and remains the player Cincinnati must prevent from controlling the match.
Dor Turgeman, New England: Turgeman has contributed seven goals and seven assists and scored against Cincinnati in March.
Peyton Miller, New England: Miller has seven goals and leads New England with 31 shots on target.
New England owns a 7-4-3 all-time record against FC Cincinnati and has historically played well in Cincinnati, going 4-1-1 in six visits.
However, Cincinnati won both 2025 meetings by identical 1-0 scores.
New England responded emphatically in March, defeating Cincinnati 6-1 after scoring six unanswered goals.
Wednesday gives the Orange and Blue an opportunity to answer that defeat on their home field.
Prediction: FC Cincinnati 3, New England Revolution 2
Best Bet: Both Teams to Score — Yes
New England owns the stronger overall record, but Cincinnati enters Wednesday with momentum after its 3-1 victory at Atlanta.
Denkey’s form is the biggest reason to believe the Orange and Blue can win.
New England should create opportunities through Gil, Turgeman and Miller, particularly against a Cincinnati defense that has conceded 65 goals.
That makes a clean sheet unlikely.
But Cincinnati is back at TQL Stadium, Denkey is coming off a two-goal performance, and the Orange and Blue have an opportunity to strengthen their playoff position while gaining revenge for March’s 6-1 embarrassment.
Expect chances at both ends and a game that remains competitive deep into the second half.
Final Score Prediction: FC Cincinnati 3, New England Revolution 2 Best Bet: Both Teams to Score — Yes Moneyline Pick: FC Cincinnati Total Goals Pick: Over 2.5 Goals Anytime Goal scorer: Kévin Denkey
