This, on paper is the most one-sided matchup of the quarterfinals. They do not play the game on paper and Fiji has beaten Australia and they gave Wales all they could want earlier in the tournament. England looks to be peaking at the right time and even though expectations were low headed into the World Cup England looks fully capable of advancing past these quarterfinals.
England had quite low expectations before the Rugby World Cup commenced this year, evident in their low betting odds.
Expectations have since increased significantly, as England have managed to win all four group stage matches and top their pool D. They achieved this success against Argentina, Japan and Samoa, respectively.
England have had to scrap hard to beat Samoa on matchday five. However, England should return to full strength by Sunday’s last eight showdown, meaning defensive mistakes won’t be such a significant problem as they were during that performance.
Fiji have made history at this year’s Rugby World Cup by reaching the quarterfinals for just the third time! Their triumph is even more notable, given that it came at the expense of Australia.
Fiji won two out of their four group stage matches, with their bonus-point defeat to Portugal in the final round proving critical in their battle for second spot against Australia.
Fiji appeared tense and nervous in its final match against France, which is not encouraging given that they will face added pressure in Sunday’s last eight stage.

England seems to be the more complete team, and Fiji’s lack of experience in these high-level matches could hurt them. This will be a tight match for a little over a half before England pulls away mid-way through the second half for a comfortable win. I like England to win 31-10 and advance to the semi-finals.
