If you’ve never come across mystery boxes before – whether digital or physical in nature – I’d recommend heading for the Wanderluck help center before you sign up. It’s packed with sections on different parts of the Wanderluck experience, including the following:

I didn’t find a live chat feature anywhere, but it’s easy enough to find the contact button in the menu at the bottom of the Wanderluck website. You can contact them in different ways too:

- Visit their physical address in New Jersey
- Contact them via social media
No phone number then, but the online messaging system would be my preferred way of contacting them. I got a reply within a few hours when I tested it.

Learn about the Wanderluck XP system
Sign up at Wanderluck and you’ll automatically join this leveling system. If you check your account details, you’ll see you begin at Level 1. You can access the Rewards section of the menu to check how many XP points (experience points) you’ll need to reach the next level. I soon found I had to get to 250 XPs to hit Level 2.
I couldn’t find how many XP levels there are, but the more you do on the site, such as opening boxes and completing challenges, the faster you’ll rack up your XP points. You’ll get Daily Rewards as you progress through the levels too. These begin at Level 1 though, and the system told me I was at Level 0, so that’s a slight oddity. The site does immediately unlock things when you can access them though.

I didn’t expect to find vacation packages and tickets in every box I opened. If I did, Wanderluck likely wouldn’t be around for long. The good news is that you can view what might be inside each box before you buy and open it. You’ll also see the odds of getting each item. Let’s go through some details here to learn more.
Mystery box risk levels
I’d read about different risk levels at Wanderluck, but it took me a few minutes to realize how to identify them. Go into the unboxing area and you’ll see a line underneath each box – green, yellow, or red. This indicates whether the box has a low, medium, or high risk level.
As a newcomer, I’d suggest sticking to the low-risk boxes first. You still won’t know what’s inside until you open them, but it’s a good idea to manage your level of risk as best you can.
Physical and digital mystery box access
While some sites offer separate boxes – some with physical items inside and others with digital ones – Wanderluck has created boxes that may have either item inside.
Every box has a chance of presenting you with some Coins – a digital currency used to buy your mystery boxes. You’ll notice that you get the highest odds of finding some Coins in any box you open. This differs from the format explained in the
Packz.io review, involving cards rather than items that may have a travel theme.
Conversely, you might get a physical item when you open a box. The odds of doing so are lower, depending on the risk level of the mystery box and the value of each item. Here are some items that may appear in the Daytripper Starter Box, with a low risk level:
- 5 Coins
– 43% chance of getting them
- A luggage lock
– 0.5375% chance
- Wanderluck travel gift card worth $200
– 0.002% chance
It’s easy to see the percentage chance of getting a specific item before you buy and open any mystery box. Obviously, the odds of getting Disneyland tickets, a day at the Arkansas hot springs, or a beach weekend in Pensacola are among the rarest box items you might see. But that’s normal for mystery box sites, it was the same for the odds of getting the most valuable cards in my
Card Crush review.
Watch for Battles and Deals too
Battles are coming soon, but they’ll give you the chance to open boxes alongside other participants. Whoever gets the highest prize value gets everything, so it’s not for everyone!
Aside from that, you’ve also got Deals. In this case, you pick your mystery box, choose your price, and in doing so, adjust the odds of winning between 10% and 80%. Note how majorly the price can change before buying and opening your box, though.
The usability factor
I have no complaints in this department. It was easy to view the potential contents of any mystery boxes at Wanderluck, and I liked the travel theming throughout. You’ve got clear access to Unboxing, Battles, Deals, and Rewards from the top of the site, along with fast access to the help center and contact pages at the opposite end of the page.
Who’s behind Wanderluck?
The copyright notice is merely credited to Wanderluck, so I had to look a little deeper to get more info. The contact page does have their address in Holmdel, New Jersey, and the terms of service confirm that the platform is owned and run by Wanderluck LLC.
According to their signup screen, you’re required to be aged 21+, but that drops to 18+ when reading their terms of service. Given the format of the site, Wanderluck does not require a license to provide its current crop of services. You must however check that you’re able to legally use the site in your location before you sign up.
How to purchase more Coins to get more boxes at Wanderluck
You can’t buy mystery boxes unless you’ve got enough Coins in your Wanderluck account to do so. You’ll see your Coin total at the top of the screen. Click or tap the plus logo and you’ll see the current Coin packages you can choose from. The smallest is $1.99, giving you 20 Coins. The most popular package currently gives you 100 Coins for $9.99.
Accepted payment methods
If you’ve got a credit or debit card, chances are they’ll welcome it at Wanderluck. They also accept Apple Pay (but no mention of Google Pay yet). You can pick up Coins in other ways too – like I did via my welcome mystery box – and via promotions.
Wanderluck is ideal for mystery box lovers and wanderers
To be clear, the odds of opening a Wanderluck mystery box and receiving Centre Court tickets for Wimbledon, a day pass to Disney World, or indeed a vacation, are incredibly long. However, the mystery boxes can contain a variety of things, and you’ll always know upfront what the chances are of getting any individual item.
