In this Sleeper Markets review I’ll dive into this brand new prediction market platform that is primarily optimized for mobile use. That’s not to say that you can’t use the desktop site, just that you won’t get the full experience.

Sleeper is actually partnered with Kalshi, which does add a serious sense of legitimacy to the app. All of the prediction markets that are now available in Sleeper, are provided for by this platform. One thing to note is that if you’re not a fan of making sports predictions, then you’re unlikely to fall in love with this app.

An overview of Sleeper Markets

The Sleeper app has been around for a while, but the prediction market side of it is a relatively new addition. Up until now, Sleeper was mostly known for being a fantasy sports platform and a pretty popular one at that too. But now, with the support of Kalshi, Sleeper has launched prediction markets which is what we’re going to be focusing on.

In this Sleeper markets review, we’ll discuss all of the outcomes of various sporting events that you can trade contracts on. The focus of this site is on sports events, which is no surprise given it originally started as a fantastic sports platform. If you’re looking for a platform where you can place predictions on outcomes and make sports fantasy picks all in one place, then this is definitely worth checking out. Providing both of these options is what makes Sleeper unique.

However, if you much prefer cultural or finance predictions, then I’m just going to be honest and say it’s unlikely you’re going to get what you want out of this app. Sleeper has very much been designed to appeal to sports fans, from the markets it has available to the way the site and the app are laid out.

Sports prediction markets available

Since Sleeper tends to focus on sports markets, it’s worth taking a deep dive into exactly what markets it has available. After all, there’s not much point in joining a platform that has absolutely no markets on your favorite sport. At a glance, Sleeper offers prediction markets on the vast majority of sports with the top most trending ones highlighted at the top of the screen. Right now this includes the World Cup, MLB, WNBA, NFL, NBA, CBB, and NHL. Obviously, as we move into different sporting tournaments and events, these will get updated.

I took a look to see what the top most trending events were to make predictions on and found:

  • France vs England – World Cup
  • Spain vs Argentina – World Cup
  • Rays vs Red Sox – MLB
  • Dodgers vs Yankees – MLB
  • Sparks vs Sky – WNBA
  • Packers vs Steelers – NFL

Let’s take a look at what predictions can be made on specific events. The World Cup is an obvious place to start since there is a great deal of excitement surrounding the upcoming final games. If you’re new to prediction markets, then the best place to start would be with trading on the outcome of the outright winner. So if this was the France vs England game, then you’d simply choose who you think will win and then either trade on the Yes or No contracts for either team.

So for France, you’d either trade Yes if you believe they will win or No if you think they won’t. The price of each contract will be influenced by the likelihood that an outcome will happen.

So right now at Sleeper, it looks like there’s a 64% chance that France will win and a 37% chance that England will win. These probabilities are all based on how traders are making their predictions and they will update as more and more place their predictions. However, they do tend to change less rapidly than crypto markets for example, which are far more volatile and have a large trading volume.

The prediction markets at Sleeper do tend to be focused on the final outcome of a game, and I couldn’t find much in terms of individual player markets. But if you feel like this will be your focus anyway, then it’s all good. If you’d prefer to find more in depth markets, then check out my Prophet Exchange review.

Sleeper sign up offer

One place that Sleeper does fall down on is its lack of sign up offers for traders. Don’t get me wrong, there are sign up offers for this platform but they are focused on fantasy football and player picks sections of the site. This isn’t a huge surprise given these features are much more well established but it’s still pretty disappointing. When considering whether to sign up to a prediction market platform, a sign up offer is certainly something that traders consider. So not having one at all or any Sleeper Markets promo codes that I could find is a bit of a negative.

When you sign up to the Sleeper Fantasy, you can get a 100% deposit match up to $100, plus a $20 bonus entry fee. However, this only applies to the fantasy sports side of the site. It’s possible though that Sleeper prediction market will add a welcome offer soon, and we will be the first to let you know if they do.

Sleeper is a mobile first platform

As I’ve already mentioned earlier on, Sleeper has been designed to be used in its mobile app. It does have a desktop site, but far more effort has gone into developing the app which means that there are a lot of cool features. If you’re seriously considering signing up to Sleeper, then it’s worth checking out the app. You can download the app directly through the site by opening up the side menu and clicking on the Sleeper Team Picks. Initially this might seem confusing as ‘picks’ is often a term used to describe fantasy football, but in this case Sleeper uses it for their prediction markets site. Open up the Sleeper Team Picks and then choose your relevant app store to download the app. You can download this from both the Google Play and Apple app store, so it’s available for use regardless of which mobile device that you have.

We found that the app downloaded very quickly and then the load up time was fairly quick too. Overall, Sleeper tends to stick to a dark and moody color palette with some blue and white highlights here and there. The app follows exactly the same theme, so that it’s very consistent between the two platforms. It also didn’t take much getting used to, everything was kind of where I expected it to be. So if you’ve used prediction markets or other apps before, then it’s likely that you’ll have no problems with this one.

Other users seem to like the Sleeper app too, as it has 4.7 stars out of 5 in the Apple App store. This is always encouraging to see as if there were any major problems with how the app runs, this rating would drop pretty quickly. Another huge positive of using the app, is that you have the freedom to make your trades wherever you like. As long as you’ve got an internet connection, you can whip out your phone and start placing trades in the park, the office, at home, on a walk – anywhere you like really. You can also keep an eye on any active trades too which is really important.

Sleeper predictions app is easy to use

As far as prediction market apps go, it all felt very intuitive and easy to use. Everything important was kind of all in one place which made it easy to load up different sports. With each sporting tournament or event, there were different headings across the screen. When I wanted to look for a specific game, I just clicked on the sport or league and then went from there. More often than not, it was one of the first ones I came across since I don’t tend to make sports predictions too far in advance.

One league I was very keen to look at was the MLB, and I was very happy that I was able to quickly load all of the upcoming games and see how things were looking. For example, with the Rays vs Red Sox game, it’s looking like a very close call, with a 52% chance that the Red Sox will win and a 48% chance that the Rays will take it.

I found making the predictions to be simple too, as I just clicked on the outcome that I wanted to trade on and then it got added to my trade slip. I then entered the amount that I wanted to trade and then double checked to see what the potential payout would be if the game settled in my favor. One of the cool features at Sleeper is being able to combine trades if you want to. So for example if you wanted to trade on two MLB games at once, then you could add them both to the trade slip. Often this can result in getting boosted potential payouts which is always fun.

Sleeper has a range of deposit options

When you first sign up to Sleeper you’ll of course need to think about how you’re going to deposit your funds. What I quite liked about Sleeper is that the minimum deposit felt very reasonable at $10. This is the case for every deposit, no matter which payment option you choose. The minimum deposit is always the same and they’re always processed instantly. However, things do change a little bit when it comes to withdrawing funds, but more on that later.

The maximum you can deposit in a 24 hour period is $1,500, and there are some states with monthly deposit limits too. In Massachusetts the monthly limit is $1,000 and in Maryland it’s $5,000. If you’re located in either of these states then you’ll need to stick to these deposit limits. If you have $10,000 in your Sleeper balance already, then you won’t be able to make any further deposits until you’ve either made some trades or withdrawn some of your funds.

To make your deposit you can choose from traditional options like Visa, Discover and bank transfer. Alternatively, you can choose the e-wallet options which include PayPal and Venmo. Right now Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay are not accepted as a deposit or withdrawal method at Sleeper, which is a disappointment for users who prefer to use one of these.

Before you can make a deposit at Sleeper, you’ll need to have completed the identity verification steps that are required of all users. These are very straightforward and similar to those discussed in my PredictIt review. They just involve uploading a copy of your government-issued ID to confirm who you are.

This is very common practice, whether you’re trading on Kalshi perpetual futures or Sleeper. One other thing to note is that the platform is very strict about your payment method needing to be in your own name, and match the details on your account. If this isn’t the case, then it’s likely that your deposit will not be processed. You’ll also need to provide a Social Security number, again this is all to do with making sure that you are who you say you are. It’s as much to protect you as it is to protect the platform.

How withdrawals work at Sleeper

After you’ve made some predictions at Sleeper and perhaps had some settle in your favor (although there’s no guarantee) then you may be ready to withdraw your funds. To request a withdrawal you just need to head to your account, click on your balance and then select withdraw. Confirm the amount that you want to withdraw and your payment method. Keep in mind that Sleeper, like most prediction markets, will prefer you to use the same payment option for deposits and withdrawals.

All the same options you have for making deposits are accepted for withdrawals too. When I tested this out, I received an email to confirm my withdrawal straight away. The maximum that I could withdraw at once was $1,000 and the maximum within a 24 hour period was $5,000. This means that I could make a maximum of five $1,000 withdrawals in the space of 24 hours.

Payment optionsMinimum depositDeposit timeWithdrawal time
Visa, Discover$10InstantUp to 3 business days
PayPal$10InstantUp to 48 hours
Venmo$10InstantUp to 48 hours
Bank transfer$10InstantUp to 5 business days

Sometimes there is a delay between you requesting your withdrawal and it being processed, which can then cause delays. This usually only takes a couple of days to resolve but the maximum time that a withdrawal could take, starts from when your withdrawal is approved, not when you request it. It’s just worth highlighting that distinction because it can trip users up at first.

If you’re looking for a faster withdrawal method, then you might want to use PayPal or Venmo. However, they do also require having external apps and accounts, so if you’d prefer to stick to your debit card or bank transfer then you can. Just remember that Mastercard isn’t accepted at Sleeper (yet!).

Customer support options at Sleeper

Customer support options at a prediction market, or any platform are really important so they’re something that I tend to pay close attention to. I wasn’t exactly impressed with the options at Sleeper, but they seemed to be half way there. For starters, there’s quite an extensive FAQ section within the Support Center which I was very pleased to see. Often you can quite easily find the answer you’re looking for in these FAQs , rather than going through the trouble of reaching out to customer support.

This is especially important since Sleeper doesn’t have a 24/7 live chat function, so your only option for getting in touch with them is via email. The only downside of this is of course having to wait for the response, although they do tend to respond to most queries in 24-48 hours. While it’s obviously not as fast as having a live chat would be, it seems to be fine for now. Within the Support Center, you can always just type a few keywords into the search bar. This will then load up all of the related articles to hopefully help you find what you’re looking for.

License & security

The way that prediction markets are regulated is a bit different than what you’d think. Sleeper prediction market is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which is responsible for all prediction market sites. It’s always very reassuring to see this as it shows that the site is adhering to all of the required federal regulations. Keeping users safe is one of the top priorities for Sleeper and is why they have such strict verification procedures.

Every user has to verify their ID with a Social Security number and copies of identification documents. We always found all the usual security features at Sleeper like SSL encryption and the two-factor authentication. The purpose of all of this is to give you peace of mind so that you can trade on various event contracts without worrying about your data. Sleeper being partnered with Kalshi also provided an extra layer of reassurance and legitimacy to the app.

Final thoughts on Sleeper predictions

Overall, I quite enjoyed having a look round the new Sleeper prediction app and exploring all that it has to offer. As I said earlier, this is very much a platform focused on sports predictions, the site makes that very clear. So if you’re planning to trade on sports events contracts, then this is the app for you.

But if you’re more interested in politics or culture predictions, then you’re probably better off with a site that focuses on those. The lack of sign up offers is a bit annoying, but hopefully Sleeper makes their offer from the fantasy side of the platform available for predictions soon. Otherwise, Sleeper seems to have everything that you could need including responsive customer support, reasonable deposit and withdrawal limits and plenty of markets on upcoming games.
