Week 2 of the NFL season closes with an intriguing interconference matchup as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to face the Houston Texans. Tampa Bay is leaning on veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield, who showed poise in Week 1, pairing with star wideout Mike Evans to give the Bucs a reliable vertical attack. Running back Rachaad White is also being asked to carry more of the offensive load as the team looks for balance.
For Houston, rising star C.J. Stroud continues to prove he’s one of the NFL’s most promising young quarterbacks. Surrounded by a deep receiver group led by Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Stroud’s ability to push the ball downfield makes the Texans one of the more exciting teams to watch. With Houston entering as a home favorite and the total sitting in the mid-40s, there are some strong prop betting opportunities on both sides of this matchup.
C.J. Stroud Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns
Mike Evans Anytime Touchdown
Nico Collins Over 66.5 Receiving Yards
Rachaad White Over 58.5 Rushing Yards
Stroud is quickly becoming one of the league’s best pure passers. He threw for over 270 yards in the opener and has multiple passing TDs in four of his last six starts dating back to 2024. Tampa Bay’s secondary was vulnerable last year, particularly against precision passing attacks, and Stroud’s chemistry with both Dell and Collins gives him multiple red-zone options. With Houston expected to put up points at home, the Over on 1.5 TD passes looks very achievable.
Even as he ages, Evans remains one of the premier red-zone threats in the NFL. He’s scored in five of his last seven games, and Baker Mayfield consistently looks his way on jump balls and fades. Against a Texans defense that allowed multiple WR touchdowns in Week 1, Evans Anytime TD is one of the sharpest plays on the board.
Collins has quickly developed into Stroud’s most consistent target. He cleared 80 yards in the opener and continues to rack up chunk plays thanks to his size and separation ability. Tampa Bay’s corners struggled last season against physical receivers, and Collins’ ability to win contested catches makes him a strong bet to go over 66.5 yards.
Tampa Bay wants to keep Houston’s explosive offense off the field, and that means establishing White on the ground. He logged 19 carries in Week 1 and has averaged over 65 rushing yards in his last five road games. Houston’s defensive front is improved but still gave up consistent yardage between the tackles. White’s volume makes this number very reachable if the Bucs stay committed to the run.
Pairing Stroud Over 1.5 Passing TDs with Collins Over 66.5 Receiving Yards creates a correlated angle on Houston’s passing success. On the other side, combining Evans Anytime TD with White Over 58.5 Rushing Yards balances Tampa Bay’s ability to score both through the air and on the ground. Diversifying across both offenses offers multiple pathways to cashing tickets.
Tonight’s Bucs vs. Texans matchup has all the makings of an entertaining primetime battle. Houston’s young star C.J. Stroud continues to rise, while Tampa Bay leans on Mayfield, Evans, and White to stay competitive. With four strong props centered around each team’s offensive identity, bettors have plenty of angles to attack in what could be a high-scoring affair in Houston.
