Can the Steelers overcome injuries and can Will Levis play another game like he did last Sunday? These are the two big questions coming into a big Thursday night matchup with early season playoff implications.
Pittsburgh lost momentum against Jacksonville on Sunday as it was outgained 377-261 and limited to 3-for-12 on third-down conversions. Furthermore, Kenny Pickett (10-for-16 for 73 yards) suffered a rib injury, forcing backup Mitch Trubisky (15-for-27 for 138 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions) into action as starting quarterback in the second half. All three losses this season for Pittsburgh have been double-digit defeats. Pittsburgh ranks 29th overall with 16.1 points per game and 271.7 total yards on average (31st), including 192.0 passing yards (25th) and 79.7 rushing yards (28th). They convert 35.0 per cent of third downs (24th), finding the end zone on 45.4 per cent of red zone drives (24th).
The Steelers rank 17th in scoring defense at 21.0 points per game while giving up 382.6 total yards (30th), including 245.4 passing yards and 137.1 rushing yards combined (24th and 28th, respectively). Their opponents have converted 42.2 per cent of third down attempts (23rd) while scoring touchdowns on 50 per cent of red zone visits (12th).
Tennessee found their stride against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday as Will Levis made his NFL debut and produced four touchdown passes en route to scoring 28 points and breaking their two-game winless skid. Tennessee managed six sacks while holding on longer in time of possession than Atlanta.
The Titans rank 23rd in terms of scoring at 18.9 points per game and average 296.6 total yards (24th), including 180.7 passing yards (29th) and 115.99 rushing yards (13th). They convert 33.7 percent of third-down attempts (28th) and find the end zone on 36.3 percent of red zone trips (30th).
Tennessee ranks 13th nationally for conceding 20.0 points and 339.4 total yards (22nd), including 232.0 passing yards (19th) and 107.4 rushing yards (16th). Their opponents have converted 38.5 percent of third down attempts (16th), scoring touchdowns on 34.6 percent of trips into red zone (2nd).
While Will Levis will struggle some, the Titans are in a good spot here, especially getting +2.5 points. Take the Titans and the points.
