Will Joe Burrow play is the big question leading into this matchup as the Bengals look to bounce back from an 0-2 start. The Rams have been surprised by playing well in the season’s first two weeks.
Everything has gone wrong for the Bengals this season, losing their opening two games while scoring just 13.5 points per contest and seeing Joe Burrow reaggravate his calf during one of their losses. Burrow must push through his pain to be successful. Still, after an unimpressive start in which he averaged only 152 passing yards per game and only managed two touchdown passes while also throwing an interception, Burrow needs to step up his game and deliver. As well as looking to Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to step up as receivers, given they’ve only averaged 79.5 receiving yards per game combined so far. Furthermore, their run game hopes to improve after only managing 70.5 rushing yards through two weeks; Joe Mixon must step up as only having had 115 yards so far is put under considerable strain to have a big game this Sunday.
The Rams have begun their NFC schedule with a 1-1 record and boast an offense that averages 26.5 points per game, led by Matthew Stafford, averaging 320.5 passing yards per game after being sidelined with injuries last season. With Cooper Kupp sidelined due to injury, Puka Nacua has emerged as Stafford’s primary target, while Tutu Atwell provides valuable secondary options in their passing attack. With only 90.5 yards accumulated per game on the ground so far this season, all eyes will be on running back Kyren Williams, who should lead his run game duties!
The Rams have shown promise this season, but I see the Bengals taking control of this matchup on both offense and defense. The Bengals should drive down the field quickly, with Joe Burrow finding open receivers while Joe Mixon makes big plays with a balanced attack on the ground. The Bengals hope to improve on defense after giving up 25.5 points per game through two weeks and limit Rams offense, thanks to Trey Hendrikson and B.J. Hill who will pressure Matthew Stafford while Daxton Hill breaks up passes in the middle of the field for Daxton Hill to help secure their win on home turf. They hope their improved defensive performance leads to victory on home soil! Or Joe Burrow doesn’t play and the Rams win an ugly game.
