QB Sam Darnols has been the surprise of the young season, leading the Vikings to a 6-1 start. The Rams, on the other hand, have been decimated by injuries but look like they are getting healthier at the right time.

At first glance, Thursday Night Football Week 8 may appear to be a straightforward contest between these two teams; however, there is some nuance worth keeping in mind. Both coaches for both sides have close ties. Kevin O’Connell served under Sean McVay for two seasons as his offensive coordinator, which makes for an unpredictable outcome in this game. An additional unknown is whether Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua return.
Kupp was close to returning last week while Nacua still needed at least another week off from playing; Kupp should return in Week 8, while Nacua might need additional rest due to this week’s shorter schedule. I still like Minnesota as they are superior across all three phases; both teams have endured extremely rigorous schedules thus far, with Minnesota having played the more difficult schedule while statistically and record wise outplaying the Rams, though if certain offensive weapons return, this could prove harder.
