Sports betting was officially legalized in the state of Louisiana in June 2021. Gov. John Bel Edwards then passed the power into the hands of Louisiana residents in the form of a referendum. Following the passing of Senate Bill 247, Louisiana was the very first state in the US to pass the power of sports betting approval into the hands of residents in each parish.
