In Game 4 of the NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics by a score of 107-97. Both teams, who have been in good form thus far, ended 2-2 in the best-of-7 series, with Steph Curry coming up big to help the Warriors overcome a point deficit.
Throughout the game, Curry consistently took shots that had a great chance to score points. In the series, he had his third 30-point play and his highest-ever points total in a game is 43. This was his second 40-point performance in the finals, following his 47-point performance against the Toronto Raptors in Game 3 of the 2019 season.
He was able to score 14 points in the 3rd quarter and 10 in the 4th quarter. Of the total points he scored, 12 of his 19 points he got in the first half in the opening quarter.
In addition, the 34-year-old was able to hit 14 of 26 shots from the field, including seven of 14 from three-point range. The point guard has also had 10 rebounds and four assists throughout Game 4. Curry’s massive points were able to pull the Warriors back from a point deficit over the Celtics.
Throughout Game 4 of the series, Curry continued to attack defensively. Even when he seemed tired and in need of offensive assistance, he never gave up the points that his team has earned.
“The effort that is made is not always shooting but attacking, being aggressive, finding a path, and doing it over and over again,” said Curry, explaining his game.
In this game against the Celtics, Curry demonstrated that he is more than just the finest shooter in NBA history. On the other hand, he is in fact one of the greatest players of all time, as evidenced by the highest Final points acquisition in two games.
Curry was also one of the only five-point guards in Finals history game to score 40 points and grab 10 rebounds. Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Dwayne Wade are the only other point guards with the same record, and Curry is the second point guard to accomplish it.
The fact that Curry was injured in Game 3 was even more startling than these points. This indicates that his attempts to reach this position in Game 4 were not easy and necessitated complete concentration.
Curry’s performance at TD Garden that night received a lot of praises. Warriors coach Steve Kerr said it was “just amazing.”
He also emphasized that Curry has a strong physique in the midst of various pressures that are currently hitting him apart from the game. “His ability to defend shows that this is the strongest physique he has had in his career,” concluded Kerr.
Draymond Green was also amazed by Curry’s play. According to him, Curry was able to show his ability as the best player and push the team to reduce the points deficit.”
Additionally, Klay Thompson called it Curry’s No. 1 all-time Finals performance. Thompson saw that Curry had strong resilience given the criticism many fans had of him on the pitch.
