Durant’s Choctaw Casino & Resort is celebrating 35 years of partnership with the city. It was southeastern Oklahoma’s first casino to exceed guests’ gaming and resort expectations. The festivities begin on August 5 and include concerts and a $2 million cash giveaway.
In addition, to celebrate the casino’s establishment, a special anniversary hotel rate, as well as food, drink, and spa specials, guest appearances at The League sports bar, and activities like bowling and bingo at The District entertainment venue, will be offered.
The Choctaw Bingo Hall first opened its doors in 1987. It was a 28,000-square-foot facility that drew players not only from Oklahoma but also from Texas across the Red River.
The property has undergone five major expansion projects since then, including the addition of a 12-story hotel tower in 2010, major upgrades to the Choctaw Lodge and Choctaw Inn in 2012, and the opening of the Grand Tower, Grand Theater, and The District family entertainment center in 2012.
The Sky Tower is a 21-story luxury tower with expanded gaming, elevated amenities, restaurants, lounges, entertainment options, and a world-class collection of Choctaw art opened in 2021.

“I am proud to be one of the long-standing employees of Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant,” said Jeff Penz, Senior Director of Gaming Operations of the company.
For the commemoration of its partnership with the city, the casino will take on a retro look to feel like it did when it first opened in 1987.
