The introduction of legalized mobile gambling is expected to yield an estimated $6.5 billion in its inaugural year of operation in North Carolina. This substantial revenue will be divided, with half allocated to the general fund and the remainder distributed to various sectors, including University Athletic funds, the state’s significant games and attraction funds, and contributions to the NC Problem Gambling Program. Despite these financial prospects, there are concerns regarding the user interface and experience of the mobile betting apps.
Starting Friday, March 1, residents of North Carolina can initiate the sign-up process for mobile accounts. Although deposits into these accounts become permissible from noon on Friday, actual sports betting activities are restricted until March 11.
To engage in betting, individuals must meet the minimum age requirement of 21 and create an account with a licensed operator.
