NCAA Football Week 9 Takeaways: Primetime being exposed, Notre Dame not dead yet, Oregon and Florida State are scary

Week 9 Takeaways

1) Notre Dame is not dead yet

The Irish have played one of the most demanding schedules in the country and, at one point, played four straight top 20 opponents in Prime Time, splitting those games. They destroyed the Pitt Panthers 58-7, the same Pitt team that upset Louisville a few weeks ago. Sam Hartman is a big-time quarterback, and with a dominating win over Clemson, the Irish should be college football playoff contenders again.

2) Prime Time being exposed

Colorado has beaten yet again, and this team, with each passing week, looks similar to what they were last season. will maybe not be that bad, but it’s getting close to that. The offensive line is terrible, but what do you expect with a coach that puts a premium on skill position players instead of the high upfront? Now we have moronic Colorado fans, or should I say Coach Prime fans that are claiming it’s a conspiracy to make Coach Prime look bad. What makes Coach Prime look bad is the fact that he did not make offensive line priority over skill position players. The ego is being dinged right now.

3) UCLA defensive line gets it done

Laiatu Latu and Gabriel and Grayson Murphy’s defensive front at UCLA took full advantage of an overmatched Colorado offensive line by notching 24 pressures, 17 hits, 13 knockdowns and seven sacks against Shedeur Sanders on Saturday.

4) Penn State should drop out of the Top Ten

Head Coach James Franklin is overrated; there, I said it! This Nittany Lions team seems loaded for bear, but after a 33-24 win over the Indiana Hoosiers, it’s clear that at best Penn State is the third-best team in the Big Ten. Much was expected of the Nittany Lions this season, but they have fallen short of those expectations!

5) Oklahoma State Should be in the top 25

The Cowboys started the season slow at 2-2, but wins over Kansas and Kansas State have turned their season around.

6) Oregon was scary at Utah

It did not surprise me that Oregon beat Utah, but it was surprising how badly they beat a good Utah team on the road. The Utes were never in the game and an Oregon vs Washington rematch may be needed to decide who will play in the College Football payoffs.

7) Florida State plays a complete game

Florida State had yet to produce a truly complete performance during their 7-0 start, and Saturday’s 41-16 victory over Wake Forest provided that opportunity. Jordan Travis completed 359 yards passing, ran for 29 more and scored four touchdowns; Trey Benson added one on the ground and one more via catch-and-run; plus, the defense limited Wake to only 210 total yards of offense.
