John Konchar Agrees to a Three-Year Contract Extension With the Memphis Grizzlies

John Konchar signed a $19 million, three-year contract with the Grizzlies. According to George Langberg (Konchar’s agent), the contract is fully guaranteed. In 2019, the guard from Purdue Fort Wayne was not drafted. He signed a two-way deal with the Grizzlies in July, which began his journey to stardom within the NBA.  Check out the best sports betting sites for betting on the NBA!

His career earnings are expected to reach $30 million over the next few years. Konchar averaged 4.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game during the 2021-22 NBA seasons. This was in 72 games. He shot 51.5% from 3-point range and 41.3% from the field.

John Konchar Records Career-High Numbers in Last Season

In the 2021-22 season, Konchar also posted career-highs in assists, minutes played, and points in the 2021-22 season. In the Grizzlies’ 152-79 win over the Thunder on Dec. 2, Konchar scored 17 points in just 26 minutes. The team’s 73-point win was undoubtedly the most devastating in NBA history.

Plus, in the Grizzlies’ 133 to 103 victory over the Pacers on March. 24, Konchar tied his career record with 18 points in 25 minutes.

Konchar was a key role player on the Grizzlies bench last season. With each season, the 26-year-old is developing his game.

The Grizzlies can overcome injuries this time around

Jaren Jackson Jr. will miss the 2022-23 season after foot surgery. Coach Taylor Jenkins will use Killian Tillie more frequently during his absence. This shouldn’t be a problem. Ja Morant also sustained a right knee injury in Game 3 of the second-round playoffs.

The Grizzlies do have a great backcourt. Apart from Morant and Konchar, the team still features Tyus Jones, Dillon Brooks, Danny Green, Desmond Bane, and others. On Nov. 25, 2020, Bane signed a multiyear contract with Memphis.

Green and David Roddy were traded last month by the 76ers from the Sixers to the Grizzlies in exchange for De’Anthony Melton. Green averaged 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and one assist per game in 62 games with the Sixers during the 2021-22 season.
