Former heavyweight contender Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller tipped the scales 42lb heavier than his opponent Antonio Zepeda. Despite standing two feet taller than the controversial former contender, Zepeda weighed in at 283lb, while Miller at 325lb. The two will face each other in their exhibition bout Sunday night.
Ahead of his tune-up exhibition, Miller has been calling out top fighters in the division, including Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua. He also wanted to secure a spot in Tyson Fury’s upcoming match and claimed to be undefeated in sparring.
Commenting about why he called out Fury, Miller said he was offering to help the British boxer prepare for his September bout and the showdown with Oleksandr Usyk in December.
Now, Miller is set to face Zepeda, an undefeated fighter with a perfect knockout record of 6-0, who trains out of Mayweather’s gym in Vegas. Miller looks forward to the match, promising an intense and entertaining match.
“He’s a young, hungry guy, I’m still young, still hungry and we’re looking for Tyson Fury after this. So we’re just gonna go in there, have some fun and put on an entertaining show,” Miller said.
“He’s an undefeated guy he’s going to come in there and throw punches at me so it’s real. Don’t think we’re going in there to pitty pat, we’re going to have some fun at the same time.”
Due to multiple failed drug tests, Miller’s career and reputation took a major hit in 2019. The tests resulted in the detection of banned substances such as HGH, EPO and cardarine. The doping scandal further led to the cancellation of his highly anticipated match against Anthony Joshua that year.
Miller attributed the failed tests to a tainted supplement and stem cell injections in his elbow. Subsequently, he secured a contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank stable but tested positive for a banned substance again, resulting in a two-year suspension. This time, Miller attributed it to a sexual enhancement pill.
Miller also faced a four-year hiatus before returning to Argentina last summer. After completing the suspension, Miller voluntarily enrolled in VADA testing, reinstating his license in Las Vegas. He won two comeback fights before delivering a decisive stoppage victory over Australian boxer Lucas Browne in March.
