Through the first three games, the Avalanche dominated the series. Their offense has stepped up and scored 13 goals in the three games. Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog. Valeri Nichushkin leads the top line with six goals and four assists. However, the rest of the offense is stepping up. Andrew Cogliano, Mikko Rantanen and Andre Burakovsky have scored two goals and ten assists to lead the middle forward lines. Meanwhile, defensemen Cale Makar (defense) and Josh Manson (defense) have added three goals, two assists, and one assist from the point to lift the offense to the top.
Although the offense has been spectacular, the defense, which allowed only three goals in the first two games, is hoping to rebound after allowing six in Game Three. Devon Toews and Cale Makar have been the top pairing creating turnovers and controlling the puck in defense to create instant offense. However, the rest of the unit failed, and the Lightning could score goals consistently.
Although the Lightning appeared to be in serious trouble, their offense scored six goals in Game Three to turn the series around. Ondrej Palt, Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov continued to lead the top line. They scored two goals and four assists while scoring three goals and five assists together in the series. However, the rest of their offense was equally impressive. Nick Paul, Pat Maroon, and Anthony Cirelli played well in game 3 . Defensemen Victor Hedman have added to the offense with a goal from the point, and Mikhail Sergachev has provided three assists.

Although the offense was more aggressive, the defense rebounded in Game Three and allowed only two goals after allowing eleven in the previous two games. Jan Rutta and Victor Hedman were the top pairings, but the rest played well, with Ryan McDonagh and Mikhail Sergachev creating turnovers and limiting shots on the net. Andrei Vasilevskiy, the goaltender, saved 37 of 39 shots in the most recent game.
The Avalanche want to rebound from Game Three and take a 3-1 lead in the series. The problem is that the Lightning has seized the momentum of this series after a decisive win and is looking to overwhelm the Avalanche again in all three zones. The Lightning is looking to build on a six-goal win and continue to find the back of the net. Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov control the puck in the offensive zone, creating open shots and excellent puck movement.
