Is FanDuel hacked? Everything you need to know plus safe alternatives

After recent reports from DraftKings customers that their accounts had been hacked, similar reports from FanDuel customers emerged. If you’re a FanDuel customer, don’t worry; we’ve covered all the steps you need to ensure your account is safe.

How the FanDuel hack happened

On the same day, DraftKings and FanDuel both reported irregular activity on their platforms. The report was on Monday, November 21st, and while both operators detected unauthorized activity, DraftKings was hit harder with approximately $300 000 missing from customer accounts.

FanDuel customers’ funds appear untouched, even though the operator also reported unauthorized activity.

The login information was allegedly acquired on other sites, not the operator sites themselves, leading to irregular activity and loss of funds. Hackers were able to bypass the DraftKings 2FA or two-factor authentication to access customer accounts, which could have led to the loss of funds.

Next steps for FanDuel customers

We’re sure you’ll want to take every possible measure to avoid your FanDuel account being hacked, and we’re here to give you step-by-step instructions so you can keep your information and funds sealed in.

1. Log in and take a good look

The first step is to access your FanDuel account to see if anything irregular occurred or if anything is out of place.

2. Change your FanDuel password

As soon as you’ve logged in, change your password and make sure that it’s not similar to any other online password you use. Create a strong password that contains at least one capital letter, a number, and another character like # or * to mix it up nicely. Additionally, create a FanDuel 2FA for an extra layer of protection.

3. Think you’ve been hacked? Report it immediately

If you see anything on your FanDuel account that doesn’t seem right, make sure to contact FanDuel customer support as soon as possible with a detailed description of what you’ve identified.
