CFL Power Rankings Week 9: Argos still at the Top, Montreal on the Rise

This still looks like a three-team race, but Montreal, Hamilton, and Ottawa are all showing signs of life right now. This season is starting to look like it could have a tremendous ending!

9. Edmonton Elks

The Elks are an utter mess now and the worst team in the CFL. They have now played eight quarters against the BC Lions and have still not scored a single point.

8. Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Riders got steamrolled by the Toronto Argonauts.

7. Ottawa Redblacks

The Redblacks hot streak came to a crash landing at home against Hamilton. Crum completed passes for 148 yards and one interception while also rushing for 82 yards on the ground in their loss; Justin Hardy led all receivers with 55 receiving yards, while Frankie Griffin led the defense with 11 tackles and an interception.

6. Hamilton Tiger-Cats

On Friday night, Hamilton defeated the Ottawa REDBLACKS 16-12 thanks to their effective defence, who held off Dustin Crum’s attack after two overtime wins for Ottawa prior to playing their game at home.

Mitchell amassed 353 yards for two touchdowns during this victory; Kai Locksley recorded two receptions totaling 91 yards with one scoring play, while D’haquille Williams pulled in five receptions worth 54 yards with another touchdown catch.

Malik Carney led the defense with five tackles and two sacks. Jameer Thurman added seven tackles, while Tre’ Crawford notched two additional sacks.

5. Calgary Stampeders

Jake Maier threw 256 yards with two interceptions; Micah Awe led the defense with eight tackles, while Branden Dozier added four with one sack each.

4. Montreal Alouettes

The Montreal Alouettes’ defense and special teams stood out when the Calgary Stampeders visited, making the difference in a game-winning performance against them.

Rene Paredes and David Cote from each team attempted six field goals during the matchup, with Rene Paredes scoring all 18 of Calgary’s points.

Cody Fajardo was limited to only 158 yards passing and one interception during this game, while Tyrice Beverette led with six tackles and one special team tackle ! Bryce Notree added two tackles and a sack from defense-minded Bryce Notree led the Als defensive effort with two tackles and a sack each while Kaion Julien-Grant led all Als receivers with 71 yards on five receptions.

3. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Blue Bombers had the bye this past week.

2. BC Lions

Linebacker Bo Lokombo and defensive back Garry Peters each recorded an interception as the BC Lions made another impressive defensive showing against Edmonton Elks this season, after shutting them out 22-0 during Week 2.

Quarterback Dane Evans made history on Sunday afternoon by throwing two touchdown passes – one each to wide receiver Justin McInnis and running back Taquan Mizzell – in their effort to extend their winning streak to 6-1. Starting in place of Vernon Adams Jr. who suffered an injury against Saskatchewan Roughriders last week, Evans completed 25 of 32 passes for 330 yards and two scores to help lead them to victory.

1. Toronto Argonauts

Andrew Harris became the fifth all-time CFL rushing yards leader and the Toronto Argonauts achieved a milestone not seen for nearly 90 years on Saturday.

The Argos’ 31-13 victory over Saskatchewan Roughriders at Touchdown Atlantic illustrated their new standard in every sense of the word.

Harris eclipsed one of his childhood heroes – former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Charles Roberts. With 41 rushing yards on seven attempts, Harris has now passed him.
