Monza, also known as the temple of speed, is the location for the Italian Grand Prix, the final race of our triple header before we head off to the east for the two Asian grand prix’s. The final of the ‘big three’ European races after Silverstone and Spa, Monza is known for its high speed and low downforce setups on the cars. With a distance of 5.7 kilometers and eleven tricky corners it’s sure to put these new 2022 cars to the test. Located just north of Milan, Monza has long been the home race of Ferrari who are looking to replicate Charles’ inspiring 2019 win for the Scuderia, the last time they won here. They’re also the most successful team here winning twenty times since the sports’ inception. Meanwhile the most successful driver around here is Lewis Hamilton who’s on par with Michael Schumacher with five wins each for the pair of them. Can he make it a sixth? I’ve got that answer covered for you below but first, have a look at the Best Formula 1 Betting Sites before placing any of your bets!
Whilst the clear favorite will of course be Max and Red Bull to win, the last two races around Monza produced some interesting results. 2020 saw Piere Gasly take his first and thus far his only career win for Alpha Tauri, after a few blistering and closely followed laps between himself and Carlos Sainz who was driving for Mclaren at the time, which had me and undoubtedly others at the edge of our seat! The following year Mclaren finally had their redemption with a 1-2 finish led by Daniel Ricciardo for the team in papaya orange. I bet Carlos must have regretfully thought about still being in that seat at the time. Given the pace Red Bull have over any of the other teams, especially with their straight line speed, It’s easy to say who’s going to win this one but, don’t let the statistics fool you as Formula 1 can be unpredictable at times. Do I have a pick? Sure It’s gonna be Carlos Sainz. I have a hunch something will go right for him this time and that he can pick up his first win in F1 and, what a way to do it! He will undoubtedly cement himself within Ferrari’s history and will be the most talked about person in Italy. Previous drivers have mentioned that winning for Ferrari is just different, filled with passion and emotion and that’s what makes this team – and winning for them – so great.
After checking and comparing The Best Formula 1 Odds, No. Not for the win. If everything goes smoothly with no red flags or any other incidents it’s going to be a Ferrari or a Red Bull victory, with the latter being the favorite. As we saw during the last couple of races at Monza though it can still produce some surprises, in which case you would need to watch out for some fast cars that can be slippery through the air. Those fast cars who might be in for a potential win or at least a Podium would include the two Alpines. They have proved to us that they can be quick and with two very talented drivers in their seats, they might just be in a position to pounce should an incident occur. I also don’t want to exclude one of the two Mercedes cars from this, though I do expect them to be slightly slower than the front runners given the nature of the track. They are masters of strategy and indeed they can put themselves in a position to grab some good points around here, perhaps Lewis starting from the back of the grid due to an engine penalty will have something to do with this and it can mean two things; either Mercedes have an incredible low downforce set up and we can expect Lewis to propel himself from the back of the grid towards the front somewhere, similar to what he did in Brazil last year, or their car is so slow for this track, they might as well take the engine penalty here at a track which doesn’t suit their car, rather than on a track where they can potentially get a result and that ever eluding win. Lewis so far has never finished a Formula 1 season without a win, there might be a prop bet out there on whether he should get a win this season or not however, if you don’t find one Pointsbet have a ‘Name a Bet’ section on their SportsBook. Williams also have a decently fast and slippery car, we saw the Williams setting the fastest time in sector one at Spa thanks to the Kemmel straight. There might be a potential for one of the Williams cars to get a points finish, so there’s another prop bet for you.
