Michigan needs this win against the Trojans to rekindle their dream of defending its College Football Playoff national championship title.

Losing this matchup would make running the table virtually impossible and getting back to the CFP improbable.

Can Michigan exert any kind of pressure against Moss?

So far, one of the more surprising aspects of Michigan Wolverine football has been their poor third down defense – partly due to not having good enough pass rushers.

A major hurdle will be the offensive downfield plays; they will make some headway but not enough to counterbalance Orji’s turnovers.

Michigan’s offense hasn’t been successful.

Michigan’s offense has struggled, while USC’s defense has played outstandingly through two games. They have now had time off to recuperate and prepare for their third contest.

The Wolverines lack an effective passing game, and their ground attack—which managed over 300 yards against Arkansas State—found it difficult to score against the Arkansas State Red Wolves; only 28 points were scored.

Michigan has had trouble on third downs; against Fresno State, it was okay, but against Texas, it was dismal. Yet Arkansas State still managed to convert seven out of 12 chances it had.

Miller Moss of USC has shown himself to be very effective when facing pressure, not making mistakes and not incurring penalties, keeping chains moving as planned.

What it gets down to is, that the Trojans are the better, more complete football team.
