The Oregon Ducks keep inching closer to a College Football playoff spot, but they better not take the Oregon State Beavers lightly. It’s a rivalry game so be careful Ducks!
Everybody believes they have an effective strategy against Oregon until suddenly things start going the Ducks way, quickly turning the game in their direction and quickly passing 500 yards total offense. If that is your opponent’s fate, your game could promptly be over.
Nix has been remarkable. While Penix Jr.’s stats have seen some decline, although he still leads the nation in passing, Nix has only continued to improve, averaging more than 400 yards per game over his last three games and 14 touchdowns!
He’s taking full advantage of the style of offense available to him; his line has been stellar, and he is hitting 78% of his throws with only two interceptions year-to-date – never falling below 72% for any game thus far!

Pass Rush. Pass Rush. Pass Rush; The Beavers can get after the Quarterback!
Oregon State did not get any sacks against Michael Penix Jr. during Washington’s 22-20 loss but applied enough pressure on him to limit his air raid. Penix Jr. completed just 57% of his passes..
Finding Bo Nix can be challenging, but at least Oregon State’s defensive front will make him work for it. They rank fifth nationally in sacks, which helps with turnover margin and thus takes some pressure off a defense that has only allowed 373 yards since mid-October.
DJ Uiagalelei may not be accurate, but his deep shots have opened up everything for Damien Martinez and the running game – or vice versa – and everything seems to work fine as long as turnovers don’t become an issue.
Oregon’s run defense can be penetrated, but few opponents make an effort. Utah tried, but its ground game fizzled early, and it was too late once Oregon started rolling. Arizona State may have lost big last week but averaged over six yards per carry – Oregon State must average five.
Oregon’s defense will prove too powerful at home for Oregon State to lose any momentum heading into College Football Playoff season.
At times, it can be overwhelming; in six games alone, the Ducks have never seen their yardage drop below 520 yards; even in their lowest yardage home game against Colorado, they could’ve reached 700 but came up short before reaching it.
Oregon will jump out quickly on their first two drives and will quickly dominate Oregon State with their running game; then Nix and company will start pushing towards their goal of a Pac-12 Championship victory late in the third quarter.
