Week 5 of the 2023 college football season offers plenty of intriguing matchups, such as DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium’s Big 12 Conference clash between Kansas and Texas- so here is our best pick and latest odds update for Kansas vs. Texas betting pick.
Texas looks forward to its second consecutive victory over Kansas. Last season, they crushed them 55-14 as 9-point road favorites; this time around, they’re 16.5-point home favorites with totals currently set at 61.5 points.
Last Saturday, No. 3 Texas Longhorns easily defeated Baylor Bears 38-6 to improve to 4-0 SU and 2-2 ATS for the season. Texas held Baylor from scoring during the second half while outgaining them 503-365 in total yardage, thus covering a 17.5 point spread easily. Sophomore running back Jonathon Brooks led Texas with 18 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts, as junior tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders collected five receptions for 110 yards on five receptions from Quinn Ewers who also carried five times himself for 16 yards and one score.
Last week, Junior quarterback Jalon Daniels led Kansas’ offense, throwing for 130 yards and three touchdowns and carrying nine times for 54 yards himself. Running backs Devin Neal and Daniel Hishaw Jr. combined for 151 rushing yards, while junior wideout Luke Grimm recorded two catches totalling 18 yards with multiple touchdowns scored by himself.
This season, Kansas has eclipsed 30 points in every game they’ve played, tallying 37.8 points per contest (tied-26th nationally) while amassing 245.3 passing yards (59th) and 217.8 rushing yards (13th). On defense, however, Kansas is surrendering 22.8 points per match (tied-61) on 203.8 passing yards (50th) and 97.0 rushing yards (26th).
Kansas’ Jayhawks may struggle to move the ball effectively against Texas, especially on the ground. Kansas is 5-1 against the spread in its last six dates against them but has only covered twice overall over their last eight games; by comparison, the Longhorns have gone 4-1 ATS against Big 12 Conference foes in their previous five games. Texas wins, but Kansas covers the points!.
