Two contenders collide in the East. The 76ers are coming off a win against the Spurs on Monday, while the Pacers are trying to recover from a loss to the Denver Nuggets. The Pacers need a win here as they have struggled as of late. The Sixers are seeking their seventh straight victory.
The Indiana Pacers return home for four games at home. Indiana has struggled lately, losing three in a row including to the Trail Blazers; and falling by 117-110 against the Suns on Sunday before marking five-point dogs against Nuggets and losing on Monday; Indiana now lies seventh in conference, having covered just once of their last five bouts!
Tyrese Haliburton will miss at least the next three games and is projected to average and losing his 23 PPG on 49% shooting has been devastating. Pascal Siakam was just recently traded to the Pacers in an enormous deal and immediately scored 20 points shortly after joining the team. Myles Turner averaged over 50% shooting three in his last five contests, producing 17.4 PPG and 7.14 RPG during those five contests; The Pacers are still a good team without Haliburton but are they good enough to beat the Sixers without him.
The Philadelphia 76ers are on a roll, having not lost since January 10th against the Atlanta Hawks. Since then, they’ve won against the Nuggets and Magic before beating Charlotte Hornets on the road and Spurs at home with 13.5-point favorites for home wins over Charlotte Hornets on Saturday (97-89 road win) and being 13.5 point favorites against Spurs (133-123) on Monday night to remain four games behind Boston Celtics for first place in division while covering spread in three of last five contests!
Joel Embiid was remarkable on Monday night, scoring 70 points against the Spurs to increase his season average to 36 PPG. Tyrese Maxey has scored 20+ in three of his last five games and averaged an impressive 38.5 point scoring output in two meetings with Indiana this season; also notching an impressive 25.8 PPG average while shooting 45% from 3-point range overall this year. Tobias Harris also posted 20+ scoring totals twice out of four contests this year for an average 17.7 PPG average.
The Sixers are the best team coming into this game, but the Sixers may get caught looking ahead to a game with the Denver Nuggets. I will take the Pacers and the +5.5 points in this one.
