On Wednesday night at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City will play host to the Dallas Mavericks in game five of their exciting series. Oklahoma City won game one but surprisingly lost game two at home and game three on the road before bouncing back to tie this series in Game 4. Oklahoma City looks to be the better team, and they are at home this s, but anything can happen as this series has proved so far!
These odds were updated at 6 am EST on 05/16/24, coming from Draft Kings.
Nikola Jokic took control of Game 5 during the third quarter and finished with 40 points and 13 assists on 15-of-22 shooting from the field – truly an epic performance by an NBA veteran who seems able to dominate without ever breaking stride. No other player can match him when on top like that!
if the Nuggets get that version of Jokic back, they could advance to the Western Conference Finals for a second straight season. Their offensive process was unrivaled in Game 5, when they attempted 47% of shots at the rim and converted on 73.5 of those attempts – an incredible showing in terms of conversion rate!
Defense has been one of Denver’s strongest attributes in their last few games. Minnesota averaged 95.8 points per 100 in half-court over their past three matches compared to Denver’s 80.6 average for this same time frame.
Minnesota has shown improvement during transition, averaging 135.2 points per play in this series. They should try and beat Denver down the court off live rebounds while taking advantage of any turnovers they encounter from Denver.
The Wolves must prioritize taking better care of the ball on offense, as they turned over 15.2% of their possessions in the last game. Their second-quarter performance was particularly poor, as there were nine turnovers and multiple players—such as Karl-Anthony Towns and Naz Reid—got into foul trouble for offensive fouls.
I truly believe the Nuggets have dismantled the Wolves’ offense without Conley. With Towns having suffered from cramps after Game 5, their current form doesn’t possess enough offensive firepower to match up with Denver, and they may be mentally defeated due to three consecutive double-digit losses. I love the Nuggets and the money line. They have the best player in the World in Jokic, and he will close this series out in an emphatic fashion. If you are looking for the best sportsbook, we’ve got you covered as we break down the best sports betting app
The Over/Under is 203 in this game. This is a tricky over/under, but I would lean towards the over. I expect Jokic to play out of his mind in this close out game and I think the Timberwolves will hang for most of the game. They will have no answer for Jokic.
This point spread is way off to me, I would have the Nuggets favored by three points. I know Minnesota is at home but the Nuggets have won both games at Minnesota and they have figured out Minnesota. Great value betting on the Nuggets.
The regular season means nothing at this point. What matters is the Nuggets have figured out the Timberwolves. Can Minnesota find an answer for what’s been happening to them? Check out our guide to betting on NBA Playoff Parlays.
The Timberwolves need to find answers quick to respond to the Nuggets and force a game seven, Nikola Jokic is the best player in the world and even if they find answers I expect him to put the Nuggets on his back and dominate this game. Nuggets 109 Timberwolves 100
