The Indiana Pacers blew a perfect chance at taking home-court advantage away from the Celtics in game one. Turnovers cost the Pacers the game. Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics put on an absolutely thrilling show during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals and Boston came away victorious 133-128 in overtime. Indiana appeared to have secured victory early in overtime as they held onto a three-point lead with 34 seconds left, however Indiana turned it over twice leading up to Jaylen Brown hitting a game-tying three pointer six seconds into overtime which knotted it up at 128, forcing extra time. Overtime saw Boston outscore Indiana 16-11 while Jayson Tatum scoring 10 of his points. Game 2 should begin at 8:00 PM EST from TD Garden on Wednesday August 2.

The Celtics haven’t been tested much so far this postseason run, but Indiana gave them quite the fight in Game 1. Indiana nearly pulled off an upset win before they were ultimately shut out by Boston’s defense – 22 turnovers caused by their aggressive play on defense sealed this victory for them. While I don’t expect them to force 22 more turnovers as in Game 1, I do expect Indiana not shooting over 50% from the field again and having difficulty scoring on offense due to adjustments from Boston on defense that will be made accordingly but the Pacers are still going to be in this game. I like the Pacers to cover. Check out the latest Western Conference odds for the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

The Pacers on the moneyline is a great value pick. the problem is I don’t see them winning this game, but it’s not out of the question. The Celtics will not force 22 turnovers again and the Pacers have to cool down, don’t they? The Over/Under is 225 in this game. This is tricky over/under, but I would lean towards the over. I expect the Pacers to have tired legs in game one and to struggle with some shooting. The Pacers had a historic shooting night in the game seven win at Madison Square Graden and then shot over 50 per cent in game one at Boston, the Pacers have to cool down at some point, but they are a tremendous shooting team and will get their points.
The Pacers are dangerous because they are capable of scoring a lot of points quickly, which makes them a dangerous team. I think the Pacers will put up a fight in this series, they showed a preview to that in game one. Nine points is to big of a spread. To me Celtics -6 is where the spread should be.
The Celtics won all the regular-season games between these two teams. Of course, that means nothing come playoff time, but the Celtics matchup well against the Pacers. Check out our guide to betting on NBA Playoff Parlays.
I think the Celtics will win a close one and when these teams get to Indy don’t be surprised if the Pacers make this series interesting. Celtics 115 Pacers 110.
