However, don’t be surprised to see some lesser competitive teams in the mix this week. NASCAR road course racing is unique and the fact that sometimes you don’t have to be in the best equipment to compete, you just have to be one of the better drivers on that day. I would not be surprised to see somebody like Erik Jones, or chase Briscoe competing for a win this week. With so many variables in the race that can affect the outcome, the only thing I can really guarantee is Sonoma will be an exciting race.

Kyle Busch
always runs well on road courses, being one of NASCAR’s best drivers whether it be on a road course a short track or a superspeedway I expect Kyle Busch to be competing for a win this Sunday at Sonoma. Joe Gibbs Racing seems to have their cars dialed in and I expect them to have another good weekend. Kyle Busch already has two Sonoma wins under his belt, and he has been on an absolute tear as of late. Busch is currently +1000 to win, +250 to finish in the top 3, and +110 to finish in the top 5.
Martin Truex Jr.
has won 2 of the last three races at Sonoma and finished 3rd in last year’s race. Truex has proven throughout his career that he is more than an above-average road course driver. As the regular season begins to come to an end Truex is running out of opportunities to get his first win of the season. Truex Jr. is currently +1800 to win and +450 to finish in the top 3
Kyle Larson
is one of the sport’s best drivers and certainly one of the best road course drivers. Kyle Larson also won last year’s race at Sonoma. Larson has not competed well in the last several races and is overdue for a great day. Larson is currently +400 to win.
Chase Elliott
is another Hendrick driver that is undeniably great on road courses. Hendrick Motorsports missed the mark last week with their setup and failed to get any of their cars in the top 10. However, HMS knows how to set up a car for a road course and Elliott certainly knows how to drive on them. Don’t be surprised if Elliott is in the hunt to win the races when the checkered flag waves. AJ Allmendinger
is known as the road course specialist, and even though he is not a full-time driver he always seems to find a way to compete for a win on the road courses. If it wasn’t for Ross Chastain’s aggressive driving at COTA Allmendinger probably would have won. I look for AJ to be upfront at the end of the race. Allmendinger is currently + 1600 to win. A $20 bet on Allmendinger would payout big.
