Week 5 of the Nascar season is shaping up to be another exciting week and if you are interested in betting on the race make sure you check out our best bookmakers. Nascar has wrapped up their west coast swing and head to Atlanta this week for the Folds Of Honor QuickTrip 500. Atlanta Motor Speedway recently underwent some major renovations, most notably a new racing surface, and the addition of progressive banking that will most certainly change the dynamics of the 1.54-mile track. Look for the race this week to run more like a superspeedway rather than a 1.5-mile track. Last week at Phoenix Chase Briscoe picked up his first Cup win in only his second season in Nascar’s top circuit. We also watched another driver get knocked out of the race for what has become a reoccurring issue for some teams. Corey Lajoie lost a wheel during the race causing him to hit the wall. Nascar has determined Lajoie lost his wheel due to the single wheel lug nut not being properly torqued down, as a result, Lajoie will be without his crew chief Ryan Sparks and several members of his pit crew as Nascar has handed out a stiff four race suspension for the mishap. Kyle Larson is yet again the favorite for this week’s race at Atlanta. Larson had a disappointing finish last week in Phoenix caused by a blown valve spring. Larson was running good before his engine trouble and would have most likely finished in the top 5 if not for the engine failure. Larson is +950 to win, +250 to finish in the top 3, and +120 to finish in the top five.
Ryan Blaney is off to an incredibly rough start in 2022, failing to finish at Fontana and Vegas, but was able to secure a 4th place finish last week in Phoenix. Blaney also won last year’s annual spring race at Atlanta. Blaney is the co-favorite this week in Atlanta and is +950 to win, +250 to finish in the top three, and +120 to finish in the top five.
Chase Elliot has driven well this year, but he has run into some bad luck keeping him out of finishing in the top 5. Last week at Phoenix, Elliot ran well but had a terrible pit stop near the end of the race keeping him from a top 10 finish. Elliot is overdue for a big day, and usually performs well at super speedways, and I look for him to be in the top 5 at the end of the race if he can stay out of trouble. Elliot is +1300 to win, +280 to finish in the top three, and +150 to finish in the top five.
Kyle Busch works his way into the top 5 this week. Busch has two top 10 finishes this year and one top 5 at Las Vegas. Busch finished 7th last week with what I believe was a lack luster car. Busch normally runs well at 1.5-mile tracks and super speedways both and I look for him to finish well this week in Atlanta. Busch is +1300 to win, +280 to finish in the top three, and +150 to finish in the top 5.
Chase Briscoe rounds out the top 5 this week. Briscoe got his first career cup series win last week in Phoenix, and finished 3rd at Daytona, and currently sits 6th in the points race. On a side note, Briscoe made his Xfinity debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway during the 2018 season and finished 15th. Briscoe is +1800 to win, +500 to finish in the Top3, and +225 to finish in the top 5.
