We have some glaring takeaways from the race, with last week’s Daytona 500 in the books. At the top of the list is the poor performance by the Chevrolets. Chevrolet teams better figure something out quickly to keep up with the Toyota’s and Fords. Nascar needs to reevaluate the single wheel lugnut and the aluminium forged wheel; two drivers had early exits from the race due to wheels shattering at 180 MPH. The days of going five wide at the superspeedways are over; the new norm in Nascar will be two-line racing with drivers scrambling to get in the fast pack at the end of the race. Moving forward to week 2, The Auto Club 400 should bring just as much excitement as Daytona; however, the physics of the race will be different. If qualifying for the Auto Club 400 is any indication of how the race will go, turn four is going to be pretty hazardous; the bottom line seemed fast, but it swallowed up several drivers, including Chase Elliot and Joey Logano.
Top 5 best bets for the Auto Club 400
Kyle Busch
qualified 3rd and is coming off a solid run at the Daytona 500. He is currently +700 to win. Busch posted some strong finishes at the Auto Club Speedway, finishing 2nd in 2020 just ahead of his brother Kurt after starting 17th. If Kyle can stay out of trouble late in the race, I look for him to post a strong finish in the top 5.
Denny Hamlin
qualified 4th and appeared to have a strong car. Hamlin was running a decent race at Daytona before getting into trouble on lap 63. I look for Hamlin to bounce back from a disappointing Daytona 500 finish this week. Hamlin is currently

Austin Cindric,
who won the Daytona 500, also won the pole for the Auto Club 400. Cindric is hot right now, and he has one of the fastest cars going into the race. I look for Cindric to run another strong race this week, and he is currently sitting at +1800

Kyle Larson
is currently the favorite to win the Auto Club 400, and it’s easy to understand why; even though Larson qualified outside the top ten, he still posted a good time, and he has proven he can drive anything with a steering wheel. Larson currently sits at

Joey Logano
has a strong car this week and probably would have taken the pole if he wasn’t swallowed up by turn four during the final round of qualifying. Logano hit the wall, but it didn’t look like his car took much damage. Logano is currently +1100
