This weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series’ annual preseason event begins when the Clash at The Coliseum, which will take place at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The main event will feature 150 laps and will occur at night under the stars as the sun sets.
Although the Clash results don’t count towards the NASCAR Cup Series standings, we can still learn much about new drivers and how they fit into new teams. We can also learn more about who might get off to a quick start during the Daytona 500 and start the season right. Check out the top sportsbooks for betting on NASCAR!
Joey Logano is the reigning Cup Series Champion and the winner of last year’s Clash. Logano is among five drivers listed as +1200 favorites to win the Daytona 500.
The Clash is a preseason event. However, it can be a sign of things to come by starting any season with a winning streak. Logano won the 2022 Clash and built on his early success to win his second NASCAR Cup Series Championship.
Logano is expected to be a Clash winner again and will be one of the challengers in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series. Will another Cup Series Champion or a new contender emerge to join the pack heading into Daytona?
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is transformed into a quarter-mile oval, almost like a football for the Clash races.
Qualifying determines the grids for heat races on February 4. From four 25-lap heats, twenty drivers will progress to the Clash. More drivers will advance from the two 50-lap Last Chance Heats. The fastest non-qualifier, who finished last season’s Cup Series standings at the top of the Cup Series standings, will take the final spot in the 27-car grid.
Since NASCAR moved the preseason Clash from the Daytona International Speedway to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, this is the second edition.
Joey Logano started his NASCAR Cup Series win season in the 2022 edition preseason Clash. He won the Clash while leading for 35 laps in his Ford-Penske Machinery. Kyle Busch placed second in his Joe Gibbs Toyota. He started first and led 65 laps. Check out the best betting sites for betting on NASCAR.
We will not take the defending Series Champion Logano and Clash winner to win again on any NASCAR odds this weekend. We are staying with Team Penske and favor Ryan Blaney to win.
Tyler Reddick, 23XI-Toyota’s second possible winner, is also in the mix. But anyone who can get into the top six to eight spots on the grid for Clash will be among those running to win the Clash Championship.
