Drivers to Watch

Tyler Reddick

Reddick’s March victory was particularly impressive because he overcame electrical trouble, a slow pit stop and a trip to the rear of the field. He eventually chased down Brad Keselowski and won by 5.847 seconds, leading 77 laps.

His ability to run close to the wall while maintaining speed on worn tires makes the No. 45 Toyota extremely dangerous Sunday.

Chase Briscoe

If anyone can challenge Reddick’s recent Darlington success, it may be Chase Briscoe.

Briscoe has won the last two Southern 500s, doing so with two different organizations. He enters the Chase only 45 points behind Hamlin and has developed into one of the most consistent contenders in the Cup Series.

A third consecutive Southern 500 victory would immediately make Briscoe one of the championship’s biggest stories.

Denny Hamlin

Darlington is an ideal place for Hamlin to begin his championship pursuit.

The No. 11 Toyota driver enters the Chase after a regular season featuring four victories, 14 top-five finishes, 17 top 10s and 880 laps led.

Hamlin’s patience and ability to manage long green-flag runs traditionally fit Darlington perfectly.

Ryan Blaney

Blaney begins the Chase second in the standings and finished third at Darlington in March.

Team Penske has also made a significant postseason adjustment by moving Austin Cindric’s pit crew to Blaney’s No. 12 team after pit-road performance became an area of concern.

Brad Keselowski

Brad Keselowski deserves sleeper consideration after finishing second to Reddick during the spring Darlington race.

Keselowski led a race-high 142 laps before Reddick chased him down late.

If RFK Racing brings similar speed back to Darlington, Keselowski could again contend for the victory.
