Date: Saturday, November 7, 2026 Prelims: 5:00 PM ET Main Card: 8:00 PM ET Location: Meta APEX, Las Vegas, Nevada TV/Streaming: Paramount+ Main Event: Waldo Cortes Acosta vs. Johnny Walker — Heavyweight
The UFC returns to the Meta APEX with a short-notice heavyweight main event as No. 6 Waldo Cortes Acosta faces Johnny Walker, who recently moved up from light heavyweight. The matchup replaced the originally scheduled Gabriel Bonfim-Sean Brady main event after Brady withdrew with an injury.
Waldo Cortes Acosta: Approximately -220 to -250Johnny Walker: Approximately +180 to +200
Cortes Acosta enters as the clear favorite. Current sportsbook prices include approximately -230 at DraftKings with Walker around +190, although lines vary between operators.
Cortes Acosta enters with a 17-4 record, including nine knockout victories. The 35-year-old Dominican heavyweight lands approximately 5.03 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.44, making him one of the division’s more active high-volume strikers.
His recent results have been mixed.
Cortes Acosta scored consecutive stoppage victories over Ante Delija, Shamil Gaziev and Derrick Lewis before suffering decision losses against Alexander Volkov and Curtis Blaydes. Blaydes defeated him by unanimous decision on September 12 after using feints, timely takedowns and disciplined striking to limit Cortes Acosta’s offense.
Walker enters with a 23-10 record, including 18 knockout victories and three submissions. He made an immediate impact in his heavyweight debut on October 3, stopping Mick Parkin in the first round.
Moving to heavyweight could be important for Walker.
For years, the Brazilian cut to 205 pounds despite standing 6-foot-6 with an 82-inch reach. At heavyweight, he no longer needs to endure the same weight cut and can fully use his size, speed and explosiveness.
Walker owns a four-inch reach advantage over Cortes Acosta and stands two inches taller. He also lands approximately 3.98 significant strikes per minute while absorbing only 2.99.
But durability remains the major concern.
Walker has suffered six knockout defeats during his career, while Cortes Acosta has never been stopped. That difference helps explain why the betting market strongly favors “Salsa Boy.”
Stylistically, Cortes Acosta should pressure forward and attack Walker’s body while forcing him to exchange. His best chance is turning the fight into a physical heavyweight battle rather than allowing Walker to operate comfortably at long range.
Walker needs space.
His reach, kicking ability and unpredictable attacks can create problems if Cortes Acosta follows him recklessly. Walker should use front kicks, long punches and lateral movement before exploding with combinations.
The five-round format adds another question.
Cortes Acosta has generally shown strong durability, but Walker’s heavyweight conditioning remains largely untested after his first divisional appearance lasted only one round.
Cortes Acosta by knockout is the strongest method-of-victory play.
He owns nine career knockouts, while Walker’s six knockout losses remain impossible to ignore. Current markets have Cortes Acosta by KO/TKO around -120.
Both fighters carry legitimate finishing power.
Walker has 18 knockouts in 23 victories, while Cortes Acosta has nine in 17. A five-round heavyweight fight between two aggressive strikers creates significant finishing potential.
The current Under 2.5 rounds market is around -140 at some books.
Walker has 18 first-round finishes, while Cortes Acosta has shown that he can produce stoppages once opponents begin slowing.
Walker by knockout is the strongest long-shot alternative.
Current prices around +350 provide significantly better value than his moneyline. If Walker wins, his explosive striking is the most likely reason.
Waldo Cortes Acosta: Pressure Walker toward the fence, attack the body, limit long-range kicking exchanges, avoid chasing recklessly and force Walker into extended boxing exchanges.
Johnny Walker: Use his four-inch reach advantage, maintain movement, attack with kicks from range, avoid prolonged exchanges in the pocket and capitalize when Cortes Acosta overcommits.
Waldo Cortes Acosta: A victory keeps the No. 6 contender near the heavyweight championship conversation.
Johnny Walker: Another impressive heavyweight knockout could immediately transform him from a divisional newcomer into a ranked contender.
Tatiana Suarez vs. Virna Jandiroba: The co-main event matches the No. 2 and No. 3 strawweights in a fight with major championship implications.
Davey Grant vs. Elijah Smith: Veteran Grant attempts to slow the rise of the younger, heavily favored Smith.
Karine Silva vs. Gabriella Fernandes: The No. 11 and No. 15 women’s flyweights meet on the preliminary card.
Prediction: Waldo Cortes Acosta by Second-Round TKO
Best Bet: Cortes Acosta by KO/TKO
Best Supporting Prop: Fight Does Not Go the Distance
Value Prop: Under 2.5 Rounds
Long-Shot Bet: Johnny Walker by KO/TKO
Walker should be dangerous immediately.
His speed and reach could allow him to land several clean attacks while Cortes Acosta attempts to close distance.
The favorite must avoid becoming impatient.
Expect Cortes Acosta to pressure behind his jab, attack Walker’s body and gradually force the Brazilian toward the fence.
Walker will have opportunities to counter, but prolonged exchanges increasingly favor the more durable fighter.
During the second round, Cortes Acosta forces Walker backward with a combination, connects with a heavy right hand and follows with punches until the referee intervenes.
Waldo Cortes Acosta wins by second-round TKO, snaps his two-fight losing streak and keeps himself firmly positioned among the leading contenders in the UFC heavyweight division.
