UFC 333 brings two championship fights to Abu Dhabi, headlined by Alexander Volkanovski defending the featherweight title against undefeated No. 1 contender Movsar Evloev. The early prelims begin at 10:00 AM ET before the main card starts at 2:00 PM ET.
Alexander Volkanovski: -110Movsar Evloev: -110
This is essentially a pick’em fight. UFC’s current line lists both champion and challenger at -110, while market projections also put the matchup almost exactly at 50-50.
Volkanovski enters with a 28-4 record and is making another defense of the championship he regained by defeating Diego Lopes in April 2025. He then defeated Lopes again by unanimous decision in January 2026. The 38-year-old has 13 knockout victories, three submissions and years of five-round championship experience.
Evloev brings a perfect 20-0 record into the biggest opportunity of his career. The 32-year-old is 10-0 in the UFC and most recently defeated previously unbeaten Lerone Murphy by five-round majority decision in March. His résumé also includes victories over Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen, Diego Lopes and Dan Ige.
Stylistically, this is an outstanding championship matchup.
Volkanovski remains the superior high-volume striker. He lands approximately 5.99 significant strikes per minute while absorbing only 3.31 and owns 69 percent takedown defense.
Evloev’s greatest weapon is relentless wrestling.
He averages approximately 4.78 takedowns per 15 minutes while landing 3.91 significant strikes per minute. His ability to chain wrestling attempts together and maintain pressure makes him extremely difficult to outpoint.
Evloev cannot afford to spend 25 minutes kickboxing with Volkanovski. He needs to pressure the champion toward the fence, attack repeatedly and force extended scrambling exchanges.
Volkanovski’s challenge is making Evloev pay for every failed entry.
The champion should use his jab, combinations and lateral movement while attacking the body whenever Evloev closes distance. If Volkanovski can defend the initial takedown and quickly separate, his striking advantage becomes increasingly important.
The biggest question may be whether Evloev can maintain his wrestling pressure for five championship rounds against one of the most experienced title fighters in UFC history.
At -110, Volkanovski provides reasonable value for a defending champion with elite five-round experience.
His 69 percent takedown defense and ability to immediately scramble back to his feet should make Evloev work for every minute of control.
Evloev has won 13 of his 20 professional fights by decision and has never recorded a UFC finish.
Volkanovski has also completed numerous five-round championship fights. A competitive tactical battle is more likely than an early finish.
Volkanovski’s clearest path is defending enough takedowns to keep extended portions of the fight standing.
If he does that, his higher striking volume should allow him to accumulate rounds without needing a finish.
Evloev by decision is the strongest alternative.
If the challenger consistently gets Volkanovski against the fence and converts his wrestling into meaningful control, he could neutralize the champion’s striking advantage and win three or more rounds.
Alexander Volkanovski: Maintain lateral movement, punish wrestling entries, attack the body, separate quickly from clinches and force Evloev to strike at distance.
Movsar Evloev: Pressure the champion toward the fence, chain takedowns together, avoid extended striking exchanges, make Volkanovski carry his weight and maintain his wrestling pace throughout five rounds.
Alexander Volkanovski: The champion attempts to add another elite contender to one of the greatest featherweight résumés in UFC history.
Movsar Evloev: The undefeated challenger finally receives his championship opportunity after beginning his career 20-0.
Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili: The co-main event completes their trilogy with Yan’s bantamweight championship on the line.
Alexander Volkov vs. Rizvan Kuniev: The No. 2-ranked heavyweight meets the No. 7 contender in a potentially important title-eliminator.
Aaron Pico vs. Losene Keita: Two explosive featherweights meet in one of the main card’s most intriguing non-title fights.
Prediction: Alexander Volkanovski by Unanimous Decision
Best Bet: Alexander Volkanovski -110
Best Supporting Prop: Fight Goes the Distance
Best Method-of-Victory Bet: Volkanovski by Decision
Alternative: Movsar Evloev by Decision
Evloev should create difficult moments with his wrestling, particularly during the opening rounds. His pressure will force Volkanovski to spend considerable energy defending takedowns and escaping the fence.
But Volkanovski has spent years solving championship-level problems.
As the fight develops, expect the champion to recognize Evloev’s entries, create more separation and begin winning the striking exchanges with combinations and body attacks.
Evloev remains competitive throughout, but Volkanovski lands the cleaner damage and defends enough wrestling attempts to retain the championship.
Alexander Volkanovski wins by unanimous decision and hands Movsar Evloev the first defeat of his professional career.
