Drew Dober should defeat Rafael Alves by knockout at plus money. We prefer to prop him instead of chalking on him at -205. Dober is a powerhouse. In his ten previous wins, six of them were by knockout. Three were by decision, one by submission. Alves has been knocked out three times and submitted six times. Some of his losses by submission have been by club-and sub. He gets hurt, and then the opponent puts on a choke. Dober will not be able to do that as he constantly seeks the KO. Dober can land 4.4 significant strikes per minute on the feet while Alves absorbs 3.56. Alves tends to slow down during fights, so we believe Dober will win the KO in the second round.
On the main card, this is a critical flyweight match. To win, we’re going to take Pantoja. Perez hadn’t fought since UFC 255 when he lost to Deiveson Figueiredo in a bid to win the flyweight title. Perez has had six fights cancelled since then. Some of this was due to him losing weight and getting injured. That layoff is concerning. Pantoja has won over Kai Kara-France and Brandon Moreno and has been an excellent flyweight. Pantoja is the superior grappler and can easily catch Perez in choke if Perez does a poor takedown. This is similar to the Figueiredo fight with Perez.

While this isn’t a popular pick as everyone seems to be on Don’Tale Mayes, we like Hamdy Abdelwahab as the underdog. Abdelwahab opened the match as a favorite – which tells you how the oddsmakers view him – but the public is betting on Mayes. Despite being only 3-0 in MMA, Abdelwahab is actually 5-0. He has two wins in Jorge Masvidal’s bare-knuckle MMA promotion. (which does not count pro records). He is an undefeated prospect and a striking machine with one-punch power. However, he is also an Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler. Mayes can be knocked down with his 62 per cent takedown defense. Mayes’ striking defense is only 42 per cent. He is also one of the lower-level heavyweights who make questionable fight intelligence decisions.
