UFC 275 will feature two belts. Glover Teixeira, who defends his light-heavyweight title against Jiri Prochazka, and Valentina Shevchenko, who defends her title against Taila Santos. The card also features a rematch between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili, strawweights. We’ll be breaking down every matchup at this highly anticipated UFC event in Singapore on Saturday, June 11th.
Glover Teixeira, 42 years old, will finally get a chance to defend a title. While he’s been often overlooked by some top bookmakers it would be foolish for you to ignore him. He won the last three fights in which he was an underdog and he is now the dog again at +170.
How can a man who won six consecutive fights, including the last one against Jan Blachowicz, continue to be picked against? This is what happens when you’re up against one of the most exciting young commodities in UFC, who has a 12-fight win streak. Although only two of the wins were in the UFC’s, Jiri has displayed elite striking and thunderous power to KO even the most difficult opponents. The Czech Samurai has won by KO/TKO in all of his last ten fights.
Still, I like Glover at +170 over Jiri at -200. Teixeira’s speed has decreased, but his BJJ is becoming more dangerous with age. You can either take the moneyline, or you can look for him at +350 to win by submission.
Shevchenko has an 8-win streak and hasn’t lost since 2017. Santos is the #4 flyweight and has won four consecutive. Honestly, it doesn’t really matter. Shevchenko is the women’s UFC pound for pound champ and many consider her unbeatable. The top online betting sites offer santos at +450, and the champ at -630.
With odds like these, even if you were to place a bet on Shevchenko winning, there isn’t much to money to win. Let’s instead look at the props. Three of her seven fights ended in decisions, while four were decided by KO. Five of Santos’ six last fights came down to decision. Santos should stay upright, but Shevhenko will still win by decision at +100.
If you are onboard with this logic, you can also take the fight to go the distance at -120. Although none of this makes for super exciting commentary, Valentina Shevchenko excels at her craft and should not be bet against.
The first time these two met was not only one of the greatest women’s UFC matches of all time, it was one of the most memorable UFC fights ever. Both fighters are coming in having suffered two losses. They will both be eager to start a new winning streak.
Zhang Weili won the first fight in a split decision. She remains the favorite here, but not by much at -155. Jedrzejczyk is +135 so you could make some money, but I prefer Weili as the better striker.
You can take her to victory by KO/TKO at +350 if you feel ambitious. You could also choose decision at +140 if you are a bit more cautious.
