Pitbull’s all-action fighting style and ferocious strength have enthralled Bellator fans for over a decade. The 36-year-old Brazilian knockout fighter has fought 23 times for Bellator and has a record of 15-8 against tough contenders, including Roger Huerta, Benson Henderson, Eddie Alvarez, and Michael Chandler. It was back in November when he won the 155-pound title at Bellator 270 by knocking out Peter Queally in the first round to win the vacant lightweight title.
He also fought twice for RIZIN while he was still under contract with Bellator. In those fights, he went 1-1. In his last 10 fights, he has won eight of them.
On the other hand, the Pennsylvania native Outlaw hasn’t lost a beat since signing the Bellator roster after rising to popularity on the regional level by crushing excellent opponents and collecting a number of highlight reels.
The 30-year-old fighter defeated Huerta and then stopped Myles Jury in the third round of Bellator 261 with a rear-naked choke in June of last year to achieve his first title.
Outlaw is 11-1 going into his first Bellator title fight. Chandler was the only person to beat him during this run. Now, he is determined to add the Bellator lightweight belt to his collection by defeating Pitbull.
Douglas Lima and Jason Jackson, both of whom are contenders for the welterweight title, will fight in the co-main event.
Lima, the former welterweight champion, has been one of Bellator MMA’s most accomplished and well-known fighters for more than a decade. The 34-year-old fighter is now ranked third at welterweight.
He lost his title to Yaroslav Amosov and his last fight was a split decision loss to Michael “Venom” Page. For the next month’s matchup, Lima will try to change his luck and beat Jackson.
Jackson, 31, is on a roll in the welterweight division. He has won five fights in a row against strong opponents, including former UFC lightweight title holder Neiman Gracie, Benson Henderson, and Paul Daley.
He lost his first professional fight to well-known wrestler Ed Ruth in 2019. The fighter from Sanford MMA will try to become a real title challenger by beating Lima.
In the prelims, RIZIN lightweight champion Tofiq Musayev fights Adam Piccolotti, while middleweight fighters Dalton Rosta and Romero Cotton face off in a grudge match.
Since 2018, Piccolotti has been on a roll. The California-native has a great record of 4-2 within the past four years. His only losses have been close split-decision losses to the third-ranked Benson Henderson and Outlaw, who is the main card at Bellator 283.
Musayev will fight for the first time in the Bellator cage as one of the most publicized lightweight-class fighters in the world. The Azerbaijan international put his country’s name on the map with his dominant run in RIZIN Fighting Federation, which ended with a 2019 tournament championship win over Pitbull by unanimous decision.
