The Brewers look to be in a two-way race for the National League Central crown, and they are making a habit of beating up on bad teams. When your division includes the Reds, Cubs, and Pirates, it’s hard not to. Pitcher Brandon Woodruff may be the key, Woodruff has struggled so far this season, but if he gets back on track, the Brewers should at least win their division.
5) Los Angeles Angels
The addition of last year’s first-round pick Chase Silseth who shut out the A’s in his first start means the Angels starting pitching is loaded with five quality starters. Two of their other starters, Michael Lorenzen and Patrick Sandoval, have been better than expected. Shohei Ohtani is getting hot in the batter’s box, and he is already dominating on the mound. Mike Trout and Taylor Ward are terrors at the plate, leading me to one conclusion, the Angels are here to stay.
4) Houston Astros

3) New York Mets
The Mets have been rolling, but injuries are starting to rear their ugly head. Catcher James McCann landed on the IL with a hamate bone fracture in his left wrist to sideline him for about six weeks. Pitcher Tylor Megill is also on the injured list, but it does not seem serious, so he should return shortly.
2) Los Angeles Dodgers
Freddy Freeman has looked like a player that should have a 163 million dollar contract. Freeman has been on fire with a stat line of .312/.409/.493. Injuries have hurt the Pitching staff, but the Dodgers roll along no matter what happens. When they get healthy, they will be tough to beat; they are tough to beat right now!

It’s not surprising that the Yankees are good, but I do think it’s surprising they are this good. Nestor Cortes has looked like the best pitcher in baseball so far this season and, at least early on, has to be one of the favorites to win the Cy Young award.
