Epicenter

Epicenter is one of the leading Horses for the 2022 Belmont Stakes, having already finish second in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes earlier already this season. With those two finishes it makes sense that he would be one of the leading favorites to win the Belmont Stakes.

Could Epicenter Win The Belmont Stakes?

The Steve Asmussen-trained EPICENTER was runner up in both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes this year and will likely return for more in Saturday’s Belmont Stakes.

Epicenter was caught late by Rich Strike in the Kentucky Derby. He could see him again after the horse had escaped the Preakness Stakes.

Epicenter has run another solid race since then to record his third-second place finish in his last six races. He finished a 1 1/4 length second at the Preakness Stakes Pimlico racecourse three weeks ago.

He will be racing at 1m4f for the first time, but this is something that most 3 year-olds can do.

Joel Rosario is his jockey again, and he has two Belmont Stakes winners (2014 & 2019, respectively) so he will have plenty of riding experience from Rosario.

Steve Asmussen, Epicenter’s trainer, has won the Belmont Stakes once before. He took the prize in 2016 together with Creator.

This will be Epicenter’s first Belmont Park run, which could be seen as a negative considering that four of the 10 Belmont Park winners have had experience at the track before.

If you’re looking for Epicenter, consider the fact that he has had two difficult races in a short time and the slight increase in the trip. His consistent profile makes Epicenter a strong player here. With three weeks to recover from the Preakness Stakes run and Joel Rosario, a two-time winner jockey, he is sure to have his fans.
