On Wednesday, 6 July 2022, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced their 2022–23 regular season schedule presented by AdventHealth. The schedule includes the 82 matches that will be played by the Lightning at a later date. Check out the best bookmakers for betting on the NHL!
The Lightning will play seven of the first nine games of the season. They will also play all teams in the NHL at least twice in addition to 14 back-to-back matches. Moreover, the Lightning will play an even number of 41 home and away matches.
Amalie Arena will host half of all Lightning games. On September 27, a preseason game against the Carolina Hurricanes will be played in the Carolinas. The Hurricanes will then play the Lightning on the 28th of the same month.
Here are some of Lightning’s schedules in detail.
The 2022-23 season match will kick off on October 11, 2022, against the New York Rangers. This is their first meeting since the Rangers’ 2-1 loss in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference which was held on 12 June.
On October 18, 2022, the Lightning will take on the Philadelphia Flyers in their opening home game at Amalie Arena. During these three seasons, for the first time, there will be no celebration of the championship banner in the game.
Meanwhile, on October 21, the Lightning are set to face the Florida Panthers. This is the first meeting between the two teams after the Lightning swept the Presidents Cup winners in the second round of the NHL playoffs.
Lightning will also meet the Nashville Predators on November 19. In this match, the Lightning fans can see Ryan McDonagh wearing the Predators uniform. Ryan, who was a former Lightning defender, was traded to the Predators for a salary waiver.
On December 3, 2022, the Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the Lightning. This is the first time Lightning has played after his team trailed 3-2 in the opening round of the series in Game 7.
Lightning fans will be able to watch Derek Lalonde, the Lightning’s former assistant on the Detroit Red Wing bench. The Lightning will face the Red Wing on December 6.
Later this year, the Lightning will play against the Arizona Coyotes at Amalie Arena. This is the second time Lightning will have a match on New Year’s Eve at the same venue. In the previous year, the Lightning had lost to the Rangers on penalties 4-3.
Next, the Lightning will be back against the Coyotes on February 15, 2023, at Arizona State University. This is where Coyote will play home games at least until the 2024-25 season.
Colorado Avalanche will be Lighting’s opponent on February 9, 2023. This is the first meeting between the two since the Avalanche beat the Lightning in the Stanley Cup final.
On March 2, 2023, the Lightning will start the first of 15 games in March against the Pittsburgh Penguins. To end the league in the regular season, the Lightning will take on the Red Wing on April 13, 2023.
