The Washington Capitals enter this matchup as clear favorites due to their strong season and dominant performances against the Rangers so far. Washington has scored 12 goals in two meetings with New York this season, and with the way their offense is structured, they should have no trouble finding the back of the net again. Despite a recent scoring slump, the Capitals remain the NHL’s highest-scoring team, averaging 3.59 goals per game, and they have an impressive 20-9 record on the road. In contrast, the Rangers have been inconsistent at Madison Square Garden, holding a 16-15 home record. With Washington’s depth on offense and a power play that ranks in the league’s top ten, they should be able to exploit New York’s defense, which ranks 30th in shots allowed.
