According to The Athletic, the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League fired Bruce Cassidy on Monday. This could be seen as a surprise, considering that the Bruins reached the playoffs in six of Cassidy’s seasons at the helm. Check out the

Stanley Cup Appearance
Cassidy was the coach of the Boston Bruins in their Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 2019. The Bruins were second in the Atlantic Division during the regular 2018-19 National Hockey League season. They had a record of 49 wins and 24 regulation losses, and nine losses in overtime for 107 points. The Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs by four to three in round one, followed by the Columbus Blue Jackets four games to two in round two. Finally, they defeated the Carolina Hurricanes in four straight to win the Eastern Conference Final. In the Stanley Cup Final, the Bruins lost to the St. Louis Blues in seven games. Cassidy was a better coach in Boston.
Cassidy was better at coaching the Bruins than the Capitals. From 2002 to 2004, he briefly coached Washington. His record included 47 wins, 47 regulation losses and nine ties. He also lost seven extra-time games. This gave him a winning percentage of .500.
For a brief time, Cassidy was an NHL player.
Cassidy was a Chicago Blackhawks defenseman for six seasons from 1983 to 1990 in the NHL. Cassidy, a native of Ottawa (Ontario), scored four goals and thirteen assists for 17 points over 36 games.
