The Rangers defense needs to step up

The Lightning controlled the last half of the game, and if you are a Tampa Bay fan, you hope that the momentum can carry over. Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren led the top pairing and created turnovers for the Rangers in the defensive zone. Still, the rest of the defense struggled mightily, allowing the Lightning to establish a strong offensive zone presence and generate shots on the net. The best way to kill momentum in the NHL playoffs is to have a hot Goalie, and the Rangers have had just that in Igor Shesterkin, who has saved 115 of the 122 shots in this series.

NHL Predictions Today: Tampa Bay Lightning ML (-170)

I still believe the New York Rangers will win this series against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but our prediction for the day is for the Lightning to win this game outright.

This will be one of those classic seven-game series, and while the Rangers have a good chance of winning this game outright due to their strong play in the first few games of the series, the Tampa Bay Lightning know that if they lose this game, their season is likely over. The Rangers let a tremendous opportunity for three games to nothing lead slip through their hands-on Sunday afternoon as they jumped up 2-0 halfway through the second period.
