Jeff Fisher had the first pick in the draft and wasted it on Shea Patterson who has been atrocious so far through the first two weeks. This past weekend Patterson completed 14 of 29 passes for 124 yards. He had just 50 yards passing before the Panthers’ final possession! The Panthers defense keeps them in games but the offense gives them no chance to win the game.

7) Pittsburgh Maulers
The Maulers put up a fight this past weekend losing 30-23 to the Philadelphia Stars, the offense played much better than they did in week one, but it would not have taken much.
6) New Jersey Generals
The generals got the 10-6 win over Michigan Friday night as the Generals defense dictated the game from start to finish. The Generals could turn into contenders if they can get the offense going as the defensive line has been relentless up front getting after the quarterback through the first two weeks of the season.
5) Tampa Bay Bandits
I thought coming into this season that the Bandits would be the best team with the best quarterback and so far they have proven me wrong! Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu completed only five passes for 50 yards. The Bandits couldn’t stay on the field, succumbing to three-and-outs and miscues like dropped balls. The biggest issue may not be at quarterback for the Bandits, it may just be a case of horrible offensive line play that better get fixed quickly for the Bandits or it could be a long season.
4) Houston Gamblers
The Gamblers fell to 1-1 with an exciting 33-28 loss to the home-standing Stallions. The Gamblers played well so this loss does not seem like it should be overly concerning at this point.
3) Philadelphia Stars
The Stars are now 1-1 and look better than most expected. Right now they have the best quarterback in the USFL with Bryan Scott who in two weeks has completed passes for close to 500 yards and two touchdowns. Saturday the Stars beat the Maulers 30-23 and while that was to be expected the quarterback play from Scott has been a pleasant surprise for Philly. A close loss to the Breakers in week one doesn’t look so bad after the way the Breakers beat down the Bandits this past weekend. Check out the

1) New Orleans Breakers
After Sunday’s game, there can be no doubt who is number one at this time. The breakers beat the Tampa Bay bandits in dominating fashion to stake their claim as the best team in the USFL.
This defensive unit looks like one of the best in the league, and they made life unbearable for Bandits Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu on Sunday. He threw for just 62 yards and an interception!
Kyle Sloter, on the other hand, threw for 266 yards, and two touchdowns and also rushed for a touchdown in the victory. The Breakers look like the most complete team in the league at this point.
