UFL 2026 Week 7 Power Rankings: Separation Is Here—And Not Everyone Made the Cut

Publish Date: 05/06/2026
Fact checked by: Mike Goodpaster
As we head into week seven there is no doubt who the top four teams are, as the playoff picture becomes clearer, we take a closer look.

Week 7 is where the excuses stop.

We’re past the “figuring it out” phase. The standings are real now. The flaws are real now. And for the first time all season, you can clearly see who’s built to contend—and who’s just hanging around hoping something breaks their way.

There’s a gap forming at the top. A dangerous middle. And at the bottom? Teams running out of time.

Here’s where it stands.

1. DC Defenders (5-1)

Vibe Check: The standard. Period.

There’s no debate anymore. DC isn’t just winning—they’re controlling games from start to finish. The 24-6 dismantling of Dallas wasn’t flashy, but it was surgical. A 17-point second quarter buried the Renegades, and from there, it was over.

What separates DC is confidence. They know exactly who they are.

Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu is playing like the best player in the league—efficient, aggressive, and completely in command. When he’s right, this offense is borderline unstoppable.

The Concern: The secondary gave up yardage. Against elite receivers, that could become a real issue.

The Reality: Nobody has taken advantage of it yet.

The Stakes: Louisville is next. Win that, and you’re not just the best team—you’re the team everyone’s chasing.

2. St. Louis Battlehawks (4-2)

Vibe Check: Quietly dangerous.

St. Louis isn’t flashy—but they’re effective. The 16-3 win over Louisville wasn’t pretty, but it showed exactly what this team is built on: defense, discipline, and patience.

They don’t beat themselves.

The defense has been elite the last two weeks, and when the offense finally settles in, this team becomes a real threat. Wide receiver Gary Jennings Jr. delivered when it mattered, but the bigger story is how this defense closes games.

The Concern: Quarterback consistency. They can’t afford slow starts against better teams.

The Reality: If they clean that up, they can challenge DC.

The Stakes: Columbus is coming in. Handle business, and the pressure shifts upward.

3. Orlando Storm (4-2)

Vibe Check: Slipping. Fast.

Two straight losses. That’s not a slump—that’s a problem.

Orlando has the talent. That’s not the issue. The issue is execution, and right now, it’s killing them. Three fumbles in a 20-17 loss to Birmingham? That’s not bad luck—that’s undisciplined football.

They’re beating themselves.

Receiver KJ Hamler did everything he could to keep them alive, but one player can’t fix systemic mistakes.

The Concern: Ball security. It’s the difference between 6-0 and 4-2.

The Reality: Another loss, and this team goes from contender to pretender real quick.

The Stakes: Houston on the road. This is a must-win.

4. Birmingham Stallions (2-4)

Vibe Check: Finally awake.

Where has this team been?

The upset over Orlando wasn’t just a win—it was proof that the Stallions still have life. Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson finally looked like the player everyone expected—dynamic, aggressive, and in control.

This is the version of Birmingham people feared before the season.

The Concern: Red-zone efficiency. Field goals won’t cut it against elite teams.

The Reality: If they build on this, they’re back in the race.

The Stakes: Dallas at home. Win that, and momentum becomes real.

5. Columbus Aviators (2-4)

Vibe Check: Nobody wants to play them.

Columbus might be the most dangerous 2-4 team in the league.

They’re improving every week, and the 24-17 win over Houston showed a team starting to believe. Quarterback Jalen McClendon is settling in, and the offense is finally finding rhythm.

They’re not just competing anymore—they’re executing.

The Concern: Third-down defense. Too many extended drives.

The Reality: Fix that, and they’re a playoff team.

The Stakes: St. Louis on the road. This is their measuring stick.

6. Dallas Renegades (3-3)

Vibe Check: Slipping into trouble.

Dallas is trending the wrong way.

The 24-6 loss to DC exposed everything—no run game, a struggling offensive line, and a quarterback forced into bad situations. When you throw 41 times because you can’t run the ball, you’re already losing.

And they were.

The Concern: Offensive identity. Right now, they don’t have one.

The Reality: If they don’t fix the trenches, it gets worse.

The Stakes: Birmingham coming in hot. This could get ugly fast.

7. Louisville Kings (2-4)

Vibe Check: Searching.

Louisville went from explosive to invisible in one week.

After lighting up Dallas, they managed just three points against St. Louis. That’s not inconsistency—that’s a complete breakdown.

The issue? Finishing drives.

Field goals don’t win games in this league.

The Concern: Red-zone execution.

The Reality: Without explosive plays, this offense stalls out.

The Stakes: DC on the road. This is as tough as it gets.

8. Houston Gamblers (2-4)

Vibe Check: Falling apart.

Houston is officially in trouble.

The loss to Columbus wasn’t just a loss—it was a collapse. The offense disappeared in the second half, and they got outgained by nearly 200 yards.

That’s not competitive.

That’s getting controlled.

The Concern: Quarterback play. It’s inconsistent at best.

The Reality: Without a vertical threat, defenses are sitting on everything.

The Stakes: Orlando at home. Lose this, and the season might be over.

Final Word: The Line Has Been Drawn

There are two leagues right now.

At the top—DC, and the teams chasing them.

In the middle—teams fighting to prove they belong.

At the bottom—teams running out of time.

Week 7 didn’t just give us results.

It gave us clarity.

And in this league, clarity is dangerous.
