The NFL is back, and today, we will look at the top 5 matchups of week one of the 2023 NFL season.
Can DeShaun Watson get back to the way he played three years ago? If he can, the Browns could be a playoff team, with a good offensive line and a dominant defensive line.
The question with the Bengals will be can they hit the ground running after a training camp that Joe Burrow got hurt in? Will Burrow be 100%? If he is the Bengals will cover.
As the Pittsburgh Steelers complete an unbeaten 2023 preseason, attention shifts towards their Week 1 match-up against the San Francisco 49ers. Camp optimism and enthusiasm have significantly improved from 2022; new talent has arrived in Latrobe.
The Niners have the better roster, but a lot of questions in 49er land revolve around the QB position. Take the Steelers and the +2.5 points.
Are the Lions really a contender? We may find out right away in week one as they travel to face the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium. Jared Goff struggled on the road last season which could be an issue in this game.
The Chiefs have question marks on the offensive and defensive lines, and I think this spread is too big.
I am taking the Lions and the +7 points.
This is a matchup of what looks to be two Super Bowl contenders in the AFC.
Terron Armstead is considered one of the premier left tackles in the NFL. A four-time Pro Bowler, Armstead appeared in 13 of 17 Dolphins games last season – his presence being crucial to their victories or losses.
Miami went 1-3 during Armstead’s four-game absence last season and averaged 16.25 points during that span, only winning in Week 18 against the New York Jets with an 11-6 score.
This absence makes me lean to the Chargers who are favored by -3 points.
The last game of Week 1 will provide one of the best matches of 2023. The Bills must find a way to reach the Super Bowl and not simply remain contenders; on the other hand, the Jets are sporting an exciting new quarterback who gives Jets fans hope for the first time in years.
Expectations are sky high for the New York Jets this season, after becoming an entirely different team during the off-season with Aaron Rodgers taking over quarterback duties, while Dalvin Cook serves as a great addition to the Jets backfield alongside Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner who should make this defense-first team even tougher to deal with. They expect this year will be monumental for them!
The Bills and Jets both have offensive line issues, but the Jets defense is better than the Bills and the Jets should be better on the ground. Take the Jets and the +2.5 points.
