Kansas City found itself squeezed by their salary cap when both 2022 tackles left via free agency, so Kansas City signed Donovan Smith from Tampa Bay and Jawaan Taylor who spent four seasons with Jacksonville; neither player made PFF’s top 60 tackle list in 2022.
Creed Humphrey stood out among last season’s centers by allowing no sacks and only 19 pressures overall, including postseason pressures.
Joe Thuney earned PFF’s highest pass-blocking guard honor, while teammate Trey Smith placed in the top 15 guards; however, Smith allowed 41 pressures (eighth-most).
Trent Williams is among the finest offensive linemen in the business (one sack, two quarterback hits and 19 pressures on 1,044 snaps). At the same time, Colton McKivitz takes over for bow, Bronco Mike McGlinchey.
Aaron Banks and Spencer Burford remain two players with plenty of questions around them in terms of guard rankings according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). Both guards were placed within the lowest 70s for PFF rankings for guards.
Journeyman center Jake Brendel was an absolute star last season, allowing only one sack on 1,252 snaps.
Tyron Smith had an underwhelming year for the Cowboys, even in limited playing time due to ankle injuries. This caused them to move players around without much success; among them, Tyler Smith and Terence Steele alone allowed 76 pressures total.
Guard Zack Martin stood out as the anchor of this unit, never allowing a sack in 2022. Center Tyler Biadasz experienced some growing pains but will need to adapt and evolve moving forward.
Consistency and avoidance of injuries will give this unit a fantastic chance at climbing the list in 2023.
Zach Tom had an outstanding rookie campaign as he contributed significantly to an offensive line, which played well last season. Meanwhile, David Bakhtiari allowed 10 pressures without any sacks or quarterback hits in 11 games played.
Guards Elgton Jenkins and Jon Runyan form an excellent tandem inside and allowed just six sacks between them last season. Josh Myers, PFF’s No. 8-graded center, holds down the middle. 2022 second-round pick G Sean Rhyan may see increased playing time this season.
Bears offensive line boasts immense depth potential with three 2023 picks (Tennessean OT Darnell Wright was selected with the No. 10 overall pick in 2023 NFL Draft) as well as Braxton Jones who ranks in PFF’s top-20 tacklers list.
Chicago signed free agent G Nate Davis (PFF G rank 20) to join C Cody Whitehair and G Teven Jenkins on its roster. Jenkins made 576 snaps but allowed only two sacks and 12 pressures during that span of play.
There’s a good reason this team feels comfortable using one of their first-round draft picks on running back Bijan Robinson: Chris Lindstrom was not only the best guard in football last season but was also widely considered the premier offensive lineman.
Right tackle Kaleb McGary has also made the list, ranking among PFF’s top-10 offensive linemen. Jake Matthews stands out as an outstanding left tackle with only four sacks and 17 pressures allowed this year.
Atlanta selected Syracuse G Matthew Bergeron in Round 2 as they sought a long-term replacement at left guard after it had become somewhat of a rotating role in 2022. Drew Dalman rounds out their center group as an inexpensive fill-in player.
Penei Sewell’s impressive left-side play led him to only surrendering two sacks last season; Taylor Decker posted an above-average season by only giving up four sacks himself.
Frank Ragnow ranks among the top five centers according to Pro Football Focus (PFF), with only one sack allowed, and no quarterback hits last season.
G Jonah Jackson looks to improve on last season’s middle-of-the-pack grade. Joining him will be Halapoulivaati Vaitai, who missed all of 2022 due to a back injury but can be an attractive option after not allowing any sacks in 2021.
Ethan Pocic emerged as one of the more under-appreciated centers after joining Cleveland last offseason. Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller maybe the two best players on this team; Bitonio in particular, serves as a road-grader inside, giving Nick Chubb room to run.
Jedrick Wills Jr. and Jack Conklin have proven themselves, valuable contributors, allowing just eight sacks and 12 QB hits between them; an outstanding accomplishment given that most tackles in the league allow much more sacks and hits per tackle than they do.
Ben Powers won’t be sorely missed, but all other starters return. Tackles Ronnie Stanley and Morgan Moses standout – Stanley being graded among the top 15 pass-blocking tackles according to Pro Football Focus (PFF), while Moses completed among the top-10 run-blocking OTs by PFF.
Ben Cleveland didn’t see much action last season (93 snaps), so it makes sense for the Ravens to draft two late-round offensive linemen to add more competition before training camp.
Center Tyler Linderbaum was an impressive rookie run-blocker last season. G Kevin Zietler is an experienced veteran entering his 12th season and should have made the Pro Bowl roster due to only allowing two sacks, no quarterback hits, and 16 pressures during 2017.
Anchored by Jason Kelce at center, the Eagles’ offensive line ranks first in our NFL Power Rankings. Tackles Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata rank among Pro Football Focus’s Top 10 at their respective positions.
Guard Landon Dickerson made great strides during his second season. Cam Jurgens is entering his second year and could prove challenging during 2023 as the Eagles used a third-round draft pick on Alabama OL Tyler Steen to test him more closely than ever.
